Whether you are hunting or in combat, the Ambush is Valuable. Ambush provides you with the Element of Surprise. Learn more about Amazing Property Defence now!
2. Take advantage of concealment and the
element of surprise to attack unsuspecting
enemy combatants. All you have to do is
find a concealed position like dense under-
brush or behind hilltops and you can
ambush with success. It has been extremely
effective throughout history.
3. Ambush techniques were used two million
years ago by early humans when they hunt.
This technique was also the deciding factor
of the Roman defeat in the Battle of the
Trebia and another in the Battle of the
Teutoburg Gorest where the Germans used
obstacles to reroute the Romans into a “Kill
Zone.”
4. 1st: Identify a suitable kill zone.
– This is where the ambush will be laid. The
enemy expects to pass here. It looks reasonable
and passable.
– This zone should provide reasonable cover for
the assault force (you) to deploy, execute and
extract.
5. 2nd : What type of Ambush Geometry will you
use?
– based on the type of terrain and what the entry and
exit points look like.
– Choose the best geometry for the job and you will kick
up your chance of success.
• Linear: This is where everyone is equal distance from
the linear kill zone.
• L-Shaped: Looks similar to the linear, except firing
units are placed to fire the entire length of the kill
zone.
• V-Shaped: You place firing units away from the kill
zone at the end. Firing units lay bands of interlocking
and intersecting fire. Do this when the enemy is well
into the kill zone. It is extremely difficult for the
enemy to leave the zone with fire coming at an angle
from both sides.
6.
7. 1. You must be able to conceal yourself from
ground or air detection.
2. Your Force have to be able to deploy, encircle
and divide the enemy.
3. You have to be able to stage for ammunition
and weapons to sustain your fire.
4. Your team should be able to set up
observation teams for early enemy detection.
5. Terrain must provide for secret movement to
ambush position, and removal of troops
during withdrawal.
8. It is best to set up your ambush unit with five different
teams/roles.
1. An armed Group in front of the enemy (lead-blocking
element)
2. An armed Group behind the enemy (rear-blocking
element)
3. An armed group for the main assault (main-assault
element)
4. Teams that can detect the enemy early (observation posts)
5. A team set up in a secure location as a Command Post.
You could use a sniper screen along entry points to delay
enemy reinforcements.
You can use a leapfrogging recon technique, like what I
explained in my post.
9. Where would you choose to put your teams and
what terrain criteria would you meet at your home
or bug out location?
Do you have the situational awareness in stores or
restaurants to determine the best location for this
tactic in a shooter scenario?
