There are 39 million foreign-born individuals in the United States, accounting for 11.7% of the total population. Over half of foreign-born individuals originate from Mexico and Central America, while a quarter come from Asia. It is estimated there are between 11-20 million undocumented immigrants in the US, with the largest numbers and proportions coming from Mexico. The report provides data on foreign-born and undocumented immigrant populations in the US from the Pew Hispanic Center.
