Ahmedabad: 2nd Convocation ceremony of National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism
(NIMCJ) was held in Ahmedabad on Dec,11 . Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi was the Chief Guest who is
renowned face of the epic “ CHANAKYA” and director of the movie “PINJAR” which was critically
acclaimed and has won various national recognitions. Shri Rajeshbhai Gandhi, the managing director of
”VADILAL” industry was the Guest of Honour.
While giving the speech Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi (Chief Guest) was very inspirational in his words. He
emphasized on how our society in this era is all affected by advertising media. He shared his personal
experiences and said how we have been enslaved by media. He referred to his experiences with big
television channels where commercialization is the talk of the town and social responsibility is being side
lined. While bestowing his best wishes to the passing out students he gave them the mantra of success
with a single phrase “SATYAM VADA, DHARAMA CHARA”, as one cannot move ahead in life without
truth and religious values.
Whereas Shri Rajeshbhai Gandhi (Guest of Honor), who belongs to Vadilal industry, referred to Mass
Communication field as a challenging, wide and an innovative industry where everyday something new,
commanding and out of the box happens. He himself had to follow the trend of media and create a PR
team for the expansion of his business.
Dr. Shirish Kashikar (Director, NIMCJ) warmly welcomed the Guests and gathering at the convocation
ceremony. He gave overview of the institute and said that though NIMCJ is a coming up media
educational institute, it’s recognition has spread far and wide due to the contribution of it’s student in
the media industry. They are very well placed and occupy prominent positions in renowned media
organizations like TV9, GTPL, Ad Vista, Sandhan (Bisag), Digital Upstarts etc.
16 students of the passing out batch have been conferred with diploma certificates and degrees, two
gold medals were awarded to the meritorious students. Five students from present batch were
felicitated with Late Shri Akhil Chopra Scholarships.
The ceremony was concluded by Mr. Pradip Jain, Managing Trustee of NIMCJ, with a vote of thanks to
the guest and students who made this event possible in every manner.
