2. Plot
• Bambino travels with his father (Papà) and his
grandfather (Nonno) on a boat at midnight an use an
anchor to keep their boat stable at the centre of the
ocean. Nonno gifts Bambino with a hat which is similar to
Papà’s hat. Both his father and grandfather have a
disagreement of how Bambino show wear his hat: his
father pulls it over his face and his grandfather pushes it
up on his head. Bambino’s father places a big ladder for
Bambino to place the anchor on the Moon and all three
of them then start working to collect starts that have
fallen off of the Moon’s surface.
3. Plot Continued
• Bambino’s father tells him to use a specific type of
broom to collect the stars whereas his grandfather also
wants him to use a certain type of broom. As the
disagreement continues between them two, a big star
falls onto the Moon and is too big for them to push away.
Bambino turns his hat around so that it is facing
backwards, climbs up onto the star and hits it with a
hammer. As a result, this big star bursts open into other
stars, smaller in size. All three start collecting the stars
and Bambino chooses to use a rake instead of a broom.
After finishing the work, they all make their way down
into the boat and watch the Moon which has turned into
a Crescent shape after collecting the stars that had
fallen.
4. This medium long shot helps to establish the characters that are in the scene:
Bambino and his father and grandfather. The colours that have been used throughout
the scene consist of dark blues, white and warm colours such as yellow and brown
which help to create verisimilitude. By Bambino being placed in the centre of the shot
depicts that he is the protagonist and is in the middle of the disagreement between his
father and grandfather.
5. This close up of Bambino is of him seeing the Moon rise from the ocean. His
expression shows that he is amazed, the colour contrast helps to make the scene
look vibrant and helps the audience to engage with the character. This is also
represented within my film where the protagonist: the mouse sees the Moon and
believes it to be a piece of cheese.
6. After all three of them climb up onto the Moon with Bambino’s father and grandfather
disagreeing what broom Bambino should use, a giant star lands on the Moon.
This could be seen as the challenge that they will have to face to finish their work. This
establishing shot helps to present all the content that is present within the scene. The
colours that have been used help to make the animation look vibrant and colourful. This
could also bee seen as a state of disequilibrium as it stops them from doing their job.
7. After Bambino uses a hammer on the big star, it creates several smaller stars restoring
the equilibrium that was lost previously. The medium close up helps to show this
through Bambino’s expression: smiling as he was able to solve the problem that they
were facing.
8. The film finishes with Bambino, his father and grandfather back in their boat looking
up at the Moon which has now changed from a Full Moon to a Crescent shape. This
is because they were sweeping the stars off of the surface of the Moon. A tilting
movement was used to depict this. Similarly, the Moon will also be changing phase
within my film as the mouse will be eating the Moon thinking that it is a piece of cheese.
