Presentation Inspiration KineticFuture: Leadership Communications Coaching               5194300-407670<br />Influencing Groups <br />Stop thinking about how to present well and start thinking about how to influence the group.   <br />Whether it’s a sit down meeting or a stand up ‘show’ – isn’t that what you’re really trying to do?  That’s what needs to happen to win the budget, win the business or change views.  <br />It gives you a better place to start.  It takes you away from ‘ME ME ME’ into thinking about their needs.  It stops you believing you have to be ‘slick’ to having a conversation as a trusted advisor. It gets you analysing ahead more and also being able to read the room or adapt in the moment to people you’ve not met before.  This is an advanced skill. <br />3 Quick Wins For Group Influencing<br />Physically Map The Room – who’s who, who’s a decision maker, buyer, who’s an influencer, who’s most important, who do I need to influence ahead, what are everyone’s needs, hopes and fears. (Draw this on a spider map) <br />Choose a predominant influencing style – match your approach to the situation, the people and the culture.  Then change styles during the session where you need to.  Will you be collaborative, visionary, persuasive or directive? <br />Read the Room – start training yourself to watch the signals of interest, disagreement, boredom, disengagement and equip yourself with tools to bring those people back into the conversation.  For example, changing tone & style, being controversial, asking questions, challenging yourself with the possible objections, letting a colleague take more of a lead role, shutting up. <br />We’ve just launched an advanced training programme called Win: Group Influencing. That’s what needs to happen to win the budget, win the business or change views. <br />It gives you a better place to start. It takes you away from ‘ME ME ME’ into thinking about their needs. It stops you believing you have to be ‘slick’ to having a conversation as a trusted advisor. It gets you analysing ahead more and also being able to read the room or adapt in the moment to people you’ve not met before. This is an advanced skill. <br />3 Quick Wins For Group Influencing<br />Physically Map The Room – who’s who, who’s a decision maker, buyer, who’s an influencer, who’s most important, who do I need to influence ahead, what are everyone’s needs, hopes and fears. (Draw this on a spider map) <br />Choose a predominant influencing style – match your approach to the situation, the people and the culture. Then change styles during the session where you need to. Will you be collaborative, visionary, persuasive or directive? <br />Read the Room – start training yourself to watch the signals of interest, disagreement, boredom, disengagement and equip yourself with tools to bring those people back into the conversation. For example, changing tone & style, being controversial, asking questions, challenging yourself with the possible objections, letting a colleague take more of a lead role, shutting up. <br />We’ve just launched an advanced training programme called Win: Group Influencing.
