Completed Oracle Academy’s Database Design course that provided a
theoretical foundation and practical applications for data modeling and
design of relational databases. The course imparted the skills and
knowledge for the conceptual design of databases that meet user needs and
facilitate physical implementations of normalized, maintainable and well
defined relational databases. Some specific topics of study included:
ERD Diagramming Conventions
Documenting Business Rules
CRUD Analysis
Database Normalization
Modeling Historical Data
Drawing Conventions for Readability
6. Oracle - Database Design

7. Oracle - SQL
Course Description
Completed Oracle Academy’s Database Programming with SQL course and
gained the knowledge and programming skills for the creation, application,
maintenance and administration of an Oracle database. Oracle’s Application
Express SQL Workshop, a web application developer tool, enabled hands-on
development experience. The lessons covered all four categories of SQL
statements:
Data Manipulation Language (DML), including advanced retrieval
techniques such as ROLLUP, CUBE and set operators.
Data Definition Language (DDL)
Transaction Control Language (TCL)
Data Control Language (DCL)
8. Oracle - SQL
Final Project
The course’s final project required the use of the SQL concepts learned to design
and build a functional database for a book store. The project included building
all necessary tables with appropriate column constraints, designing application
pages with Popup Lists of Values (LOVs) and creating reports.

9. Oracle – PL/SQL
Course Description
Completed Oracle Academy’s Database Programming with PL/SQL –
Student course and gained the knowledge and skills to programmatically
manipulate data and implement complex business logic at the database
level. Specific skills developed from this course include:
Developing efficient programs to access an Oracle database.
Creating stored procedures and functions.
Developing modular programming using packages.
Using Dynamic SQL for run-time data manipulation.
Creating triggers to maintain data integrity and automate tasks.
Handling predefined and user-defined exceptions.
Improving system performance through bulk binding.
10. Oracle – PL/SQL
Sample Projects
• Use of multiple cursors and parameters to create reports.
• Handling User Defined Exceptions.
• Creating Functions.
• Creating Packages with Overloaded Procedures.
• Creating Triggers to maintain data integrity where check constraints
would be ineffective.

12. Programming VBA
Final Project
The course’s final project required the use of multiple methods and functions
taught in the class. I developed a flexible training/testing application that
enabled the easy administration of tests using a multiple choice answer
format. The application provides an easy means for the input of test
questions, establishment of participant accounts and recording of results.
