The medium close up focuses on the artists body language and expression. His mean,
engaged facial expression connotes anger but also keeps the masculine feeling.
The setting is a plain wall which means all the focus is on the artist. This connotes his
power and popularity and makes him stand out on the front cover.
The costume connotes the artist to be stylish and stand out. The black and red
clothing connotes power and anger.
The main colours of the magazine (Black, Yellow, Red and White) connotepower and
success. The red represents blood and anger which represents people associated
with this type of genre. The black represents darkness and death while the yellow
connotes power as it’s a very dominate colour and it stands out.
The artist is a young male. This is connoted by the use of the image and clothes he is
wearing. The way he presents himself e.g. clothes, hair, represents him to be a
younger masculine man.
The language is slang; this is represented as casual which can be associated with the
younger masculine readers.
