2. Jose Rizal; A man of bravery and patience. Dr. José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda was born on June 19, 1861 in Kawit, Cavite. He is known to be a Filipino polymath, patriot and the most prominent advocate for reforms in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era.
3. Why do we consider him as our Philippine National Hero?
4. He wrote two books called Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo dedicated to us Filipinos about our life in the Spanish Era.
5. He formed the La Liga Filipina and together with others, the Katipunan, in search for our Philippine Independence.
6. He rot in jail whilst trying to defend our Filipino Blood.
7. He was executed by the Spaniards in Bagumbayan in the 3oth of December in 1896.
8. Recognitions The anniversary of Rizal’s death is commemorated as a Philippine Holiday called Rizal Day. He is considered as a martyr of the Philippine Revolution. He is also featured as the face on the year 1970 and 2000 1 peso coin. A monument is also dedicated to him placed at the northern end of Roxas Boulevard overlooking Manila Bay in Manila, known as Luneta.
