15. MIME Mime SPECIAL REPORT SPACE DANGER MIME Satellite explosion takes out TV network. Space Transportation comes to a stop in fear of more Space Junk
21. Team Super Awesome, we got a problem and we need your help! What is it‼ Why are we yelling??
22. Space junk just took out FISH Network’s brand new satellite!!
23. Why do we care!?!?!?! Space junk just took out FISH Network’s brand new satellite!!
24. They said that there is a 5 billion dollar reward for anyone who can solve this problem!
25. They said that there is a 5 million dollar reward for anyone who can solve this problem! We are on it!!!! $$
26. The team travels to the SpaceWorks Engineering office in Dunwoody Georgia to talk to an expert
27. Dr. John Olds at SpaceWorks Engineering Inc. should be able to give the team some help.
28. I think Dr. Olds will be able to help us Dr. John Olds at SpaceWorks Engineering Inc. should be able to give the team some help.
29. Yeah he’s the expert I think Dr. Olds will be able to help us Dr. John Olds at SpaceWorks Engineering Inc. should be able to give the team some help.
30. For items less than 1 cm across there are millions of individual items of man made space debris. How much space junk is there?
31. Man made space junk started in the 1950’s. The oldest man-made object now in space is the Vanguard I spacecraft, launched in 1958. When did space junk start?
32. Impact risk is the biggest issue. Getting hit by something traveling at high closing speed could be catastrophic. What is the biggest risk to space transportation?
33. Back at the lab the team comes up with a plan.
34. Back at the lab the team comes up with a plan. That was great information we received from Dr. Olds. Now lets put it to use and clean up this space mess.
53. We Love you Team super Awesome ! We’re Saved!! FISHnews ALERT: FISH Network satellite saved by S.C.O.O.P. & Team Super Awesome Dogs and Cats work out treaty – peace at last in the animal community…still hate snakes
54. MIME Mime SPECIAL REPORT SPACE AWESOME MIME Team Super Awesome saves the day! Can we keep the junk away forever? What can we do to keep space clean?
56. Once again Team Super Awesome saves the day. Hey! I never got my taco!
57. What is Space Junk? Space junk is the debris that people release into space, or the different pieces of items that have originated from space Space junk can be artificial of natural depending on where the garbage has come from Natural would be meteors and other things similar to that, artificial space junk is things like a dead satellite or a wrench that someone dropped in space. The average speed for space junk is 18,000 miles per hour The oldest manmade object that is still in space is the Vanguard I spacecraft that was launched on March 17, 1958. Space junk is constantly falling back to the earth
58. Space Junk effect on space transportation This problem affects all countries and businesses that want to fly objects in space. How do you protect a spacecraft from it? Do you shield or try to maneuver the spacecraft? Either option is very expensive and is not a guaranteed solution.
59. The Expert Dr. John Olds, at SpaceWorks Engineering in Dunwoody Georgia, answered our questions about space junk and how it effects transportation around the earth in space.
60.
61.
62. This is what the aircraft engineers are really worried about, most of the larger space debris, can be tracked, but unfortunately, a paint chip or a wrench cannot so that puts a worry on some of the spacecraft members.
63.
64. Our solution for space Junk The S.C.O.O.P. is a centrifuge that has five arms that protrude from the central body, these arms spin with the central body to collect the junk. Inside the centrifuge is a gel material that will hold the collected junk in place. Once full the S.C.O.O.P. will drop out of orbit and return the junk to earth.
65. sharing of our Idea We have sent documents of our solution to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and to various engineers that work within NASA. Sadly it seems that little will be done in regards to space junk until something catastrophic happens, such as the destruction of an important satellite or spacecraft.
