20. Defensive Phase
1-Start of Pressure: MU press through an intermediate pressure when
they play with 1-3-4-1-2. They use a formation
variant, 1-4-2-4.
With the line of 4 forwards, they avoid the
progression of the ball.
The 2 midfielders are covering central line of
pass, and attentive for long balls (second plays).
Confident of the CB in aerial game. With a high
percentage of winning.
MU proposal is high pressure, MU uses a
formation variant, 1-4-4-2 when they press all
the field.
One of the CM drop to be careful of long ball,
and second plays (Normally, the CM contrary to
the active ball zone).
The another CM goes up to reduce the space in
the ball zone (Normally, the CM closer to the
active ball zone).
21. Defensive Phase
2-Destruction of creation:
When MU intermediate pressure fail, MU drop to its
field, defending with 7 players.
The wing from the passive ball zone incorporate to the
defensive line to create a line of 4 players.
One of the forward stay up for a possible DEF-ATK
transition. The another forward drop to the active ball
zone side to be a option in DEF-ATK transition.
The AM stay in an intermediate position, helping in
defensive work, and attentive for DEF-ATK transition.
When the high pressure is not possible, MU drop to
its field, returning to its formation (1-4-2-3-1).
The FW stay up to surprise with a quick DEF-ATK
transition.
MU abandon the passive ball zone (contrary band).
The winger from the contrary flank stays in a open
position. For a future DEF-ATCK transition. This
provoke a big space, only covered for the LB/RB.
22. Defensive Phase
3-Defense of Goal:
In defense of goal, MU defends with 8 players
in zone 1.The wing from the passive ball zone
incorporate to the defensive line (as RB or LB)
to create a defend line of 4 players.
The defend line defend in zone within penalty
box.
The midfielder line shift to active ball zone to
create superiority.
The AM is attentive for second plays, and
players arriving from second line
In defense of goal zone, MU make a mix
marking.
The winger closer to the active ball zone drop,
making coverage to the LB/RB. Thus, the two
CM do not have to abandon the middle zone.
The AM drop his position, for clearances , and
DEF-ATK transition.
25. Offensive Phase
1-Start Game: Combinative game as preference, but if the
another team makes a high pressure, they
alternate the combinative game with direct
game.
The three central back are the initiators. They
look for amplitude in the game, opening the
game to the wingers. Forcing to the another
team to shift, creating space in the middle for
continue the ball progression.
In case of direct game, looking for long ball to
the sides zone, to the defensive line back.
Combinative game as preference, although the
direct game is a option.
One of the CM come to receive between both
CB. He is the initiator of the MU game.
The wingers make break uncheck to the RB/LB
back (From outside to inside). Therefore, the
direction of the long ball is between the CB and
LB/RB.
26. Offensive Phase
2-Creation Game :
In creation game zone, MU looks for combination
between the players from the middle. Trying to
find space in the sides to create danger with 2x1,
1x1, or crossing. The majority of MU danger
come from the sides.
Both wingers positioning deep, and with
amplitude. At the same level than the forwards
line. Fast, and technical players looking to win
the deep line.
The AM has movement freedom.
In creation game zone, MU looks for
combinative game trying to exploit one of
the flanks.
Both CB have freedom to dribble the ball, in
case they are not under pressure. If one CB
goes up with the ball, one CM drop his
position to cover the CB space.
Wingers make support uncheck to the
middle zone, to create space in the flank for
the LB/RB. Thus, MU attack win amplitude.
27. Offensive Phase
3-End Zone: The MU preference is the creation of danger for the
sides, winning deep line to cross the ball.
The wingers are technical, and fast. They have
freedom when they have 1x1 in the band. When
they play to changed legs, they look for dribble from
outside to inside for shot, or forward uncheck.
When there is a crossing opportunity, the two
forwards more the AM go inside the penalty box.
The winger from the contrary band of the ball stay
far away of the second post for second plays. One of
the CM goes up a little his position for second plays.
In end zone, The MU preference is to win the deep
line. Although, if a player is without pressure, the
shot is a option (doesn’t matter the distance). FW, RW,
LW, and AM have freedom to change their position
depending of the situation.
Wingers has freedom when they are in 1x1 situation.
Their preference is look for dribble from outside to
inside, looking for shot.
When MU win deep line, automatic movement within
penalty box. FW, RW, and LW have the presence
within penalty box. The AM stay in second play zone,
while one of the CM join to second play zone too.
28. Offensive Transition Phase
1- Reorganization Offensive:
When MU recover the ball, they look for a
security pass to one of the player in transition
position (As the forward drooping to the band
in the active ball zone, or the AM) for a quick
DEF-ATK transition.
The wingers look for amplitude, opening their
positioning (close to throw line).
When MU recover the ball, LB and RB go up
their position, creating amplitude in MU
game.
LW and RW move up their position to create
space for the LB and RB.
CM make support uncheck to be pass option
for their teammates.
Both CB when they are under pressure after a
possession recuperation, the long ball is a
option(not risk, under pressure).
29. Offensive Transition Phase
2-Counterattack:
The MU preference when the play 1-3-4-1-2 is
a combinative game, but if the defensive line
is up. MU look for long ball to the space in
defensive line back, to take advantage of the
pace from their forwards (Martial).
The counterattack is a option in MU game after
a ball recuperation.
The AM is the initiator for counterattack. When
MU is in defensive phase, his position is
between the midfielder line and the defensive
line. Waiting for DEF-ATK transition.
If the ball arrive to the AM quick after ball
recuperation, LW, RW, and FW make break
uncheck to the space.
38. Recommendations
GENERAL CHARACTERISTIC OF PHASE ORGANIZATION ATTACK
Positional Combinative Attack like game model. Through ball possession, and
looking for attack on the flanks.
In creation zone, slow progression with support unckech in the middle zone. LB
and RB go up to create amplitude in the game.
High speed with the ball find one of the RB/LB. Looking for win deep line for
crossing. Automatic movement within penalty box, and second play zone.
CHARACTERISTIC OF OFENSIVE TRANSITION
Defender under high pressure, long ball is an option.
The ofensive transition is in block, to have a good balance in the game, the
counter attack is made for AM,WL,WR, and FW.
Amplitude from RB/LB. Winger midfielders move to inside to create spaces, and
support. High mobility from the players in front the ball.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTIC OF PHASE ORGANIZATION DEFENSIVE
Team with high block and pressure defend.
High pressure with the objetive to avoid the clean ball circulation, and forcing
for long balls to the another team.
In case to unefective pressure. Team drops in block to its field, to generate
good game balance, and possibility for DEF-ATK transition.
CHARACTERISTIC OF DEFENSIVE TRANSITION
High pressure and high intensity after ball loss.
Acumulation of player in ball active zone. With the objetive to avoid the ball
progression, and forcing the aerial game situation.
Drop in block when the pressure is inefficient, through timing the rival offensive
transition, allowing the defensive reorganization.
