Three teenagers, Aaron, Hannah, and Jay go out at night to investigate reports of a mysterious creature lurking in the nearby river. Jay believes it is real and uses them as bait to try to spot it. Hannah wants to leave, finding Jay's actions reckless. As they argue near the riverbed, Aaron discovers strange eggs or tadpoles. When something large rises behind Aaron, Hannah pulls him to safety while they all flee in the car. The next day, police investigate the same area, concerned about liability if the encounters are reported. They decide to put up pollution signs to discourage people from the river rather than address the actual threat.
2. Scene 1.
Location – Exterior, 10:30 PM.
00:00 - 01:30 (Introduction & Beginning)
1. Non-diegetic sound. The sounds of nature play.
Birds chirping, leaves being blown around by the
wind etc. Very calm and quiet.
2. Non-diegetic sound. Loud music starts to fade in,
along with the sound of a car approaching the
scene.
3. Aaron: So I was felt the bite on the end of my rod,
pulled it up and it was literally a 100oz carp!
4. Hannah: Okay, sure… my dads caught way bigger
anyway…
5. Jay: Nobody cares about your stupid carp! The only
fish you should be worrying about is the one in
this river.
6. Hannah: If you’re right about this; I don’t think
Aaron’s 100oz carp is anything to worry about.
7. Aaron: Yeah, I wouldn’t really call this a ‘fish’,
but there’s no way it’s real anyway, so who cares.
Let’s get this out of the way so we can go back to
my place and watch the game.
3. Scene 2.
Location – Exterior, 10:32 PM.
01:30 – 03:30 (Middle)
1. Jay: Okay, I don’t know how we’re supposed to get
it to come up but if I’m correct it should be
somewhere here. This is when all the other attacks
have happened.
2. Hannah: Wait, so this is where those other people
got attacked? And we’re standing here? Are you
using us as live bait or something?
3. Jay: Uhm, well… yes… but, how else are we supposed
to see the thing without us being here? It’s not
like we can wave around some Scooby Snacks and get
it to come to us.
4. Hannah: Are you kidding me? There’s something
seriously wrong with you Jay. I’m leaving.
5. Jay: Hannah, wait. We don’t even know if it’s real
yet, I mean I know it is but you want to find out
just as bad as me, right?
6. Hannah: I did, but not now. I’m not gonna stand
here and be eaten alive by a giant fish. I’m going
home.
7. Aaron (interrupts): Hey! Quiet for a second!
8. Non-diegetic sound: Silence except for a short,
pulsating ringing noise.
9. Jay: Yeah, I hear it, what is that?
10.Hannah: I don’t care. I’m going home. Aaron are you
coming or not?
11.Aaron: Wait, I think I see something by the
riverbed…
12.Aaron: What is this stuff?
4. 13.Jay: You probably shouldn’t touch that stuff…
Weird… It looks like a bunch of- tadpoles? I don’t
know. They could be eggs. What if it’s reproducing?
14.Hannah: Okay now you’re creeping me the hell out.
15.Aaron (walks toward Hannah): Here, want some?
16.Hannah: Ew! Get that away from me!
17.Aaron: (Laughs)
18.Jay: Uh guys… I don’t mean to worry you, but unless
Aaron’s been bulking I don’t think his shadow is
that big…
19.Hannah: Aaron! Behind you!
20.Non-diegetic sound. The Neverbody rises and makes a
loud screech noise that knocks Aaron over the side
of the riverbed.
21.Hannah: I have you Aaron! Grab my hand!
22.Jay: Get in the car! Now!
5. Scene 3
Location – Exterior, next day, 11:00 AM.
03:30 – 05:00. (End)
1. Policeman 1: Alright, this is where they reported
it.
2. Policeman 2: Yeah, same place again too.
3. Policeman 1: You’d think all the barbed wire and the
fencing would stop people from coming here.
4. Policeman 2: Not to mention all the signs littered
everywhere. Goddamn kids… At least these ones didn’t
die…
5. Policeman 1: Yeah, but now they can blabber about it
to their friends, if this gets out our jobs are on
the line.
6. Policeman 2: Don’t worry, even if they do nobody
will believe them. As long as we deny it, it’ll be
us against them. And nobodies going to believe a
bunch of kids over us.
7. Policeman 1: True. But this is getting out of hand.
We need to do something about it.
8. Policeman 2: What do you suggest we do? Last time we
tried moving the damn thing we lost 6 of our guys.
You know how hard it was going on live television
and saying it was because of a diving accident? I’m
not doing that again.
9. Policeman 1: There’s not much we can do. Just put up
a few signs saying the river is polluted and not to
go near it.
10. Policeman 2: Okay. Will do.
