New Game Changer in Big Data
1. Is There a New Game Changer in Big Data?
These days it seems like the next Big Data game changer is being released on a weekly basis.
And it’s true that all kinds of exciting things are being accomplished in the field of data science.
In fact, so many incredible things have been happening that PC giant Microsoft has begun to
invest its considerable resources into the development game once again. And, as they did so
many times in the early days of the PC, Microsoft has created a new normal. Tech gurus are
already calling Azure Data Lake a game changer.
2. Microsoft is building Data Lake, a massive data repository specifically for Big Data analytics, to
allow developers to work with the tools already familiar to them. This integrated approach to
application will allow users to access and analyze data in a way that makes sense to them.
Given how fast technology in this field is growing and developing, it’s likely this type of
functionality will become expected rather than appreciated – and in short order.
In fact, the industry is already shifting to meet the demand customers don’t yet know to request.
Applications include real-time website analytics and batch data services. But the feature most
industry watchdogs are excited about is the ability to run heretofore unseen mass quantities of
data as parallel queries.
The holy grail of data science application has always been the opportunity to glean
understanding and increase profits by utilizing data sets that were once wasted, simply because
they could not be housed, accessed or understood. Now, that is becoming increasingly feasible.
And not just for Microsoft customers. They may be setting the bar, but there are plenty of
services already able to leap over it.
