Conference Theme: “Transformation and Change for the Future: Employment Practices and
Principles in Transition”
Papers related to the conference theme are encouraged from all business disciplines. Proposals
for symposia and panels are also welcome. Theme-related topics include employee engagement,
social media, immigration reform, health care, managing demographics, managing work-life
balance, global organizations, multi-cultural issues, boundary-less careers, new regulations on
employment, layoffs, unemployment, delocalization of firms, executive compensation, rights to
privacy, and other areas. Papers and proposals from both academics and practitioners are
welcomed. Issues might be approached from the internal and micro point-of-view, such as
employee relations and HR practices, to the more external and macro aspect, such as interorganizational alliances and relationships, as well as inter-cultural dynamics. A full listing of
track areas from which selections will be made are found below.
This is an opportunity to engage in the discussion of significant, domestic and international
employment issues and visit a vibrant city in the Southeast with many points of interest and
excellent transportation. Among other attractions, you can explore the world-famous honkytonks, located on Broadway in Nashville, offering free live music 365 days a year. And with
more than 130 music venues around town ranging from large arenas and concert halls to small
intimate clubs, it’s easy to see why this is the city that “music calls home.”Nashville is also a
living history lesson. A must-see is The Hermitage where U.S. President Andrew Jackson lived
in the 1800s. Also worth seeing in Nashville is the Parthenon, the world’s only full-sized
reproduction of the Greek Parthenon in Athens, Greece.
