5 rules. for you to consider when building your professional profile.
rule number 1:
be consistent.
be consistent. have one personality/message in lots of different places, not a different personality/message in each place.
why?
why? because the world is small and the people you meet in one place, you will also meet in another place.
rule number 2:
be authentic.
be authentic. your profile is about being who you are.
why?
why? because people are smart- if you put on a persona to influence or impress others you will get caught out.
rule number 3:
understand value exchange.
understand value exchange. if you want something from somebody, there needs to be some kind of value exchange in order for you to get it.
why?
why? because we are human and that is human nature.
rule number 4:
improve on your transferrable skills.
improve on your transferrable skills. find ways to increase generic 101 skills e.g. in marketing, sales, account management, negotiation, computers etc
why?
why? because we live in a time where people change careers often, contemporary recruitment strategies will focus more and more on transferrable skills and less on years of experience.
rule number 5:
constantly evolve.
constantly evolve. be flexible, have an open mind, make a commitment to continually improve, develop and progress.
why?
why? because the world changes quickly and if you stay the same people will loose interest.
