Staunton Performing Arts Center The mission of the Staunton Performing Arts Center is to restore and renovate the Dixie Theatre and the Arcadia Building into a performing arts center where there are performances and educational events that are available and accessible to all interested persons, both adult and youth. Staunton Performing Arts Center 2000 Marney Gibbs bought the Dixie Theatre. 2001 Non-profit organization created and Board of Directors formed. 2002 $200,000 in Federal grants was awarded. $100,000 in funding from City of Staunton. 2003 Annual Fund & Membership programs launched. 2004 New roof installed and asbestos removed. 2005 Dixie was purchased from Marney Gibbs. 2005-08 State funds totaling $722,500 were matched. 2007 Paid off the Dixie mortgage. 2008 Arcadia Building was purchased.
