4. A WORLD OF INSIGHTS
S1: In which of the following ways are you involved in the purchase process for private and/or hybrid cloud solutions at your organization?
Base: 52 qualified respondents
In this survey we refer to the following definitions of private and hybrid cloud.
Private Cloud – Infrastructure provisioned solely for a single organization. For the purposes of this
survey we are focusing on private clouds that are hosted and managed internally versus by a third party.
Hybrid Cloud – A composition of private and public clouds which remain unique entities but are bound
together, offering the benefits of multiple deployment models.

KEY FINDINGS
5
• When it comes to private cloud deployments, three-quarters of respondents have
completed application planning and with both private and hybrid, over a third have
completed cloud strategy.
• Only 14% have completed convergence for private cloud deployments.
• During the largest cloud deployment, design usually takes months while procurement,
deployment, and testing may take either weeks or months.
• It’s usually unlikely for any stage to take over a year and even in some few cases,
procurement and deployment could be done in days.

• Three out of five respondents say their company is extremely/very successful at avoiding
vendor lock-in.
• Three quarters of organizations feel they are extremely/very successful at ensuring the
security of the private and/or hybrid cloud environments.
