6-Word Memoir
You will describe something about
yourselves in exactly six words.
Materials
• Pencils
• 5 by 8 index card
What is a Memoir?
• A memoir is a story about your life,
important moments that you want to
share with others that tell about what’s
important to you, what you value, and
what you want others to know.
• Create a list of 6 words that describe
what is important to you, things that are
happening in your lives right now, or
words to describe you.
Your Task
• Examples:
– “Asked to quiet down, spoke louder.”
– “Wasn’t noticed so I painted a train.”
– “Left cell phone on car roof.”
– “Working hard on my teacher look.”
Write three 6-word memoirs
based on your list.
Sharing
• Get together with 1 - 2 classmates.
• Share your 6-word memoir.
The Fun Part
• Get a 5 x 8 index card.
• Write your 6-word memoir in large print
on the index card with your name in the
bottom right had corner.
