4. Spends most of the day sleeping

5. but to avoid the sun, it goes into the water &lies there motionless [ with only it’s eyes and nostrils showing ]

6. Good swimmer & diver

7. Can stay underwater for 3-5 minutes with ears and nostrils closed.

8. It’s skin secretes a reddish oil that protects it from the sun [ people thought that the hippo was sweating blood ]
