3. My whole media foundation portfolio for the preliminary
task was presented in a clear and neat layout, I chose to
upload all my work with scribd as I thought it look better on
my blog, I chose it because it looks simple and you can
immediately see all my work. I was really pleased with the
layout of my work and how it was presented and impressed
with how much I had learnt about blogs.
4. I was pleased with my questionnaire and my questionnaire results as it helped me decide on what to include in my
magazine. My questionnaire was very detailed and the questionnaire results were accurate. I was pleased with all my
questions and impressed that the results helped me make decisions. I also was pleased with both the questionnaire and
questionnaire results layout; as its simple and easy to read.
5. I like my front cover because its uses all magazine conventions
such as the typography is edgy and fits my audience’s style, I also
picked the colour red for a banner as red is associated with
energy, strength, power, determination as well as passion and
desire, and. Red is a very emotionally intense colour. It enhances
the fact that students should be determined and have strength to
succeed, I also picked res as its eye catching and very bold so
students will get drawn to my magazine. The actual colour of the
masthead text is yellow with a blue outline, I found that these
colours complemented each other well and looked bold against
the red, I also picked yellow as it represents joy, happiness,
intellect, and energy which it’s all positives attitudes that students
should have, I had to include blue as it was one of the most popular
colours on my questionnaire results and the most popular teen
colour in general as it was seen in my audience profile.
I’m pleased with my image as its very eye-catching and bold it’s a
key element on my magazine that engages my target audience, I
picked this particular images as it’s a student, she’s querky, cute,
fun, positive, she looks healthy as her skin looks as its glowing by
holding the yellow book it makes the whole image is positive and
encouraging. I tried to make the cover lines interesting and
engaging so my target audience which are teens would be drawn.
I’m also happy with how my layout turned out as it’s clear and
easy to read.
6. I was extremely pleased with my contents page as it matches
my front cover as the title is on both pages which makes it
clear and understandable. I picked this image as its querky
and different, I was pleased with my photoshoot as the images
came out really well and looked like a photoshoot for a
college magazine. I wanted my contents page to be busy but
not untidy so I kept the images small and the writing to one
side I preferred this as the layout looked nicer and well
presented overall I stuck to my questionnaire results on the
cover lines and also the colours to use.To conclude I was
really pleased with my contents page.
I liked that I only used a few images as I didn’t want it to be
too busy relating back to my questionnaire results most of
students preferred less busy layouts. I also liked how there is
a main image like the front cover as students are drawn to
main images and prefer it.

9. My main improvement would be to improve my front cover, I could have had less writing so it would of made my front cover
less busy and made it more clear to my audience. I also could of changed the colour of the font on my front cover as one of
my classmates told me it was too hard to read so changing the colour to say black would make it more visible for my
audience to read. Choosing the image of a student holding a book up close was risky as the book already has a lot of
writing printed then I added cover lines making the front cover really hectic and some of my classmates said it looked
untidy and that a improvement would be to use another photo or blurred out the text on the front of the reading book so that
my cover lines are more visible. For my contents page I could of spent more time working on it and an improvement would
be to add convergence and the web address as this makes it look more professional. I would also change the typography
as it looks more like a fashion magazine than a college magazine an improvement would be to change the typography to
something more edgy and teen appropriate. I correspondingly would change the sub title ‘Features’ to white instead of
black so it ties in with the rest of the writing and change the typography to something more fun.
Lastly I would improve my questionnaire and change some questions to make it more beneficial to use later on and ask
more students.

12. The social group I have attracted is young adults aged 16 –
21 who are in the social group teens who enjoy partying
and socialising with friends but also are committed to
there education.
The way I have portrayed this is my magazine is through
mise-en-scene, language and camera angles.The way I
have represented my social group is through language and
mode of address. I used a mixture of ‘slang’ and English to
represent my audience. In everyday life my target
audience speak in this way therefore it was appropriate to
use.In the language I used exclamation marks and capitals,
this is so it looks informal and more fun. This represents the
social group because 16 – 21 year olds are fun and loud so
I wanted to portray this attitude in my magazine. I have
represented my social group through the use of mise-en-
scene. This social group cares about their appearance and
how everyone perceives them so I wanted to portray a
model that they are like so they can connect with. I used a
model that was the same age as my social group/target
audience so it represents them and clearly shows who the
magazine is aimed at. Her clothes are similar to what the
my social group would wear so again it represents them.
