4. You can compare our music video to One Directions music video for their song
‘Gotta be you.’ I think this as both music video’s use lip synching and also seem to
use similar camera angle shot’s. By this I mean that they both use close-ups, with
the person who is ‘singing’ looking straight down the camera lens, thus connecting
with the audience. However, One Direction include a lot more lip synching than our
music video does. In addition to that even though both these songs are ballad's
ours is more comical than theirs as theirs is quite serious.

5. Another music video that I believe is similar and comparative to our music video
would be the video for Scouting for girls song ‘Love how it hurts’. These videos are
similar as both are more about the story within the lyrics and are less about the
band. Also both videos are quite serious but at the same time both include comedy.
One more thing that these music videos have in common is that they have both
been edited. By this I mean that both have parts which have been slowed down,
however in ours we also have parts that have been sped up.

7. A music video that is very different to ours would be Beyonce’s music video for her
song ‘Run the world girls’. This is because, for a start both these songs and music
genre are very different. For example Beyonce’s genre is R&B whereas The Smiths is
balled. This means that Beyonce’s music video is filled with a sultry and attitude dance
routine, whereas ours is more emotional and includes role play.

8. Another music video that is very different from our music video is Ed Sheerans video
for his song ‘Drunk’. Our music videos are very different as Ed Sheeran seems to have
filmed his music video during his concerts and back stage. This therefore gives the
impression that he cares more about his music and his fans than the gilts and glamor
of being a celebrity, and by having his fans in his music video his fans are therefore
enabled to connect with him. Our videos are different as Ed’s video is ‘live’ and uses
different camera angles to ours also he does not use lip synching.

9. What elements in your music video have you seen before in other music videos?
In our music video we include what most music videos include which is lip synching.
However we also include a storyline which is quite common in music videos, role play, acting
out what the words say. We also include the usual camera angles such as close ups and
medium close ups.

Doing what the words say ‘There were
times when I could’ve strangled her’
Long shot Medium shot
10. What is new and fresh?
In our music video we included a random a quick free dance routine. This
is new and fresh as most if not all dancing in music videos has been
choreographed and practiced and planned to a certain extent, however
in ours it is completely random which I think gives it a comical and raw
touch.

12. Firstly I made a short questionnaire asking my audience who were
my friends and family the following questions:
1) What do you like about my music video and why?
2) What do you dislike about my music video and why?
3) What would you change about my music video and why?
4) What wouldn’t you change about my music video and why?
13. The things that people like about my music video was that it was funny/light-
hearted and that the video fits well with the song.
The things that people generally didn’t like about my music video was the lip-
synching issues as some of it did not match the words in the song completely.
The things that people would change about my music video would be to
perhaps add more things in about the girlfriend and their relationship to give
more character depth.
The things in my music video that people didn’t want to change was the light-
heartedness as it doesn’t take the song seriously as otherwise it could be a very
depressing song and music video. Also it is the humour that makes this music
video enjoyable.

15. The technologies that we used in our music video
included:
A video camera
To record the music video with.
A tripod
To stand the video camera on. Also so that all three of us could be in
the same shot altogether.
A video editing program
To piece together the different shots of film and also to slow down and
speed certain video parts.
YouTube
To research the original video
The internet
To research the lyrics
16. The new technologies that I have used in my music video is:
• Editing program for videos-We put the clips together with this program and
edited certain parts to make the lip singing fit with the song. We also used
the same editing program for speeding up certain parts of the video to give a
humorous touch.
17. What we found difficult and easy about the construction of our
music video:
Difficult:
Lip synching-In some lip synching scenes what people are singing does
fit with what the words are saying and are slightly out of time to
overcome this we had to slow down what the person was singing
however it still doesn’t completely fit.
Lighting-In some scenes the lighting is a bit dark because it was filmed
inside.
Easy:
The storyline- We did this by making a story board and deciding how
long each shot would take.
Using the video camera
18. Conclusion:
Overall our music video got some good reviews however, if I was to
remake this music video then I would try and get the lip synching
more in time as it didn’t quite fit with the song in certain parts and
if we did this it would give the video a more professional look.
Another thing I would do would be to show more about the
relationship between the characters as this would increase
character depth. Moreover, I think I would also think about the
lighting more as some parts in our video is a bit dark.
