EUA set out to develop a flexible prototype for Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill, the world’s largest casual
dining restaurant concept. The protoype was designed to fit a variety of site types such as a multi-tenant
shopping centers and stand-alone facilities. EUA teamed with Applebee’s franchises throughout Minnesota
and Wisconsin to customize the layout, as well as maximize parking and building locations on individual
sites.

EUA was the architect of record for Bayshore Town Center, a project that transformed an existing, big-
box mall located in Glendale, Wisconsin into a thriving lifestyle center. The new hybrid village combines
traditional indoor mall space with outdoor lifestyle shops and restaurants. In addition to retail and dining,
the mixed-use development also includes a theater, health club, office space, residential condominiums and
apartments, multiple parking decks, two freestanding pavillions and a central square.

The completed development consists of more than 1,200,000 square feet and was created in the tradition
of great lifestyle centers such as Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio.

views of Milwaukee’s downtown skyline and the Milwaukee River. Once a shoe warehouse, the design takes
advantage of the historical character of the building, exposing the heavy timber construction and original
brick walls.

EUA planned and designed the complete recreation of the former Capitol Court Shopping Center, now known
as Midtown Center. The design solution converted an existing enclosed mall into a pedestrian friendly,
mixed format center that includes several out parcel opportunities.

The second phase of the Midtown Center project adapts the “mainstreet concept” to a variety of tenant
formats and parking requirements. This phase completes the remaining retail portion of this award winning
redevelopment project.

Eppstein Uhen Architects created a space that would encourage and promote more pet adoptions, as
well as educate the public on the many different functions of the Wisconsin Humane Society. The new
43,527-square-foot facility, completed in 1999, provides better living quarters for more animals through
practical, usable spaces infused with light and energy. The facility can accommodate up to 100 cats and
82 dogs, plus other small animals. The building also includes pet adoption areas, a wildlife rehabilitation
center, a full service, four year, AHHA accredited veterinary hospital, and community education classrooms.
