Grammar and Vocabulary
( Pre-Intermediate Level)

Alumnos:

The objective for this tutorial is to make the students to
know the correct use of the grammar in a preintermediate level that they can use it in their every day
life and know the structure of each sentence. In addition
give them tips to expand their vocabulary and understand
what it is important to learn.
Grammar is important because it is the language that
makes it possible for us to talk this foreign
language(English). Grammar names the types of words
and word groups that make up sentences not only
in English but in any language. As human beings, we can
put sentences together even as children--we can all do
grammar. But to be able to talk about how sentences are
built, about the types of words and word groups that
make up sentences--that is knowing about grammar.
And knowing about grammar offers a window into the
human mind and into our amazingly complex mental
capacity.
Grammar is the structural foundation of our ability to
express ourselves. The more we are aware of how it
works, the more we can monitor the meaning and
effectiveness of the way we and others use language. It
can help foster precision, detect ambiguity, and exploit
the richness of expression available in English. And it can
help everyone--not only teachers of English, but teachers
of anything, for all teaching is ultimately a matter of
getting to grips with meaning.
The basic parts of a sentence are the subject, the verb,
and (often, but not always) the object. The subject is
usually a noun--a word that names a person, place, or
thing. The verb (or predicate) usually follows the subject
and identifies an action or a state of being. An object
receives the action and usually follows the verb.
• Personal computers are becoming quite common
among university students.
• A successful student must learn to complete the
projects that the teacher assigns for each course.
• Napping in the middle of the day was a common
custom in Israel until recently.
• The damaged cars had been taken away before the
accident was reported on the radio.
• Why the price for fixing a printer is often more than
the price for buying a new one is a question I cannot
answer.

modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.

Note: Most of the adverbs are adjectives
