2. WHO IS HE?
David Lynch is an American film director, television director, visual artist,
musician, occasional actor and author known for his surrealist films in
which he has developed a unique cinematic style. The surreal and
violent elements contained within his films have been known to
‘disturb, offend or mystify’ audiences.
Before going on to study painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine
Arts in Philadelphia, he made the transition to producing short films.
Deciding to devote himself more fully to this medium, he produced his
first motion picture, the surrealist horror Eraserhead.
3. THE ALPHABET
The Alphabet is a short film by David Lynch, produced in 1968. The film
shows a woman’s dark and absurdist nightmare vision comprising a
continuous recitation of the alphabet and bizarre living representations
of each letter.

4. THE SHORT FILMS OF DAVID LYNCH
The short films of David Lynch (2002) is a DVD collection of the early
student and commissioned film work of American filmmaker David
Lynch. As such, the collection does not include David’s later short
works, which are listed below;
• Twin Peaks
• The Elephant Man
• Blue Velvet
The films are listed I chronological order, with brief descriptions of each
film. The DVD contains introductions by Lynch to each film.
