Shalimar Bagh was a Mughal garden commissioned by Shah Jahan and designed by Ali Mardan Khan between 1627-1658 in Lahore, Pakistan. The garden was organized into three terraces - the Lower Terrace closest to the entrance, the middle Water Terrace, and the highest Zenana Terrace, and it featured fountains, canals and vegetation laid out to represent the Mughal ideal of paradise on earth.
