dbRight was founded by the Principals of SBLM Architects to
offer competitive design-build project delivery options. The
design-build project delivery system offers a lower-risk alternative to
the traditional design-bid-build delivery method—eliminating any
design-related change orders and expediting the project-
delivery schedule as design and construction phases are
overlapped. The advantages for the client are significant: architects
are professionally responsible for a facility during its entire
lifespan, versus an industry standard of one year for contractors;
and with architects at the helm, the integrity of a building’s
design is increased by the architect’s passion to provide solutions
that achieve experiential and aesthetic excellence.

understands that the sustainable design of high performance,
energy efficient buildings is the future of responsible construction,
and that investing up front in sustainable building methods leads
to long term energy-related cost savings. dbRight’s commitment
to sustainable design and project management is demonstrated
by our conscientious, integrated design-build approach, and we
are committed to achieving USGBC LEED certification whenever
possible. Working with SBLM Architects, dbRight employs a wide
range of sustainable design and analysis techniques, from extensive
studies to responsible material sourcing, to help ensure each building
component contributes to the overall exemplary performance and
efficiency of the project.
dbRight Services
Design
dbRight offers complete design services supported by an
integrated architectural and contractor approach. SBLM’s designers
work with you to develop your brand into a three-dimensional
environment. At the same time, dbRight’s builders inform the
design process by bringing to light potential site challenges. This due
diligence helps to expedite the schedule and avoid change
orders, resulting in cost savings and speed-to-market delivery.



Cost-Estimating and Budgeting
Each project begins with a well researched and reliable cost
estimate provided by our in-house cost estimator. This estimate
is closely monitored and evaluated throughout the project
eliminating any surprises and cost overruns. In addition,
dbRight is able to value-engineer at multiple stages throughout
the design process prior to construction.

Construction
dbRight offers a variety of choices for contracting including:
GC or CM with a guaranteed maximum price; CM with a cost-plus-
percentage fee; and CM with a cost-plus-fixed fee. The “cost plus”
options are appealing to clients who need to establish multiple bids
for each trade. All bids are reviewed with the client prior to sub-
contractor selection. Projects are staffed through our network of
highly qualified sub-contractors, and supervised with a dbRight
Project Manager and Superintendent.


Post-Construction
dbRight provides a thorough close-out package, including
operating manuals, as-built drawings, and lien waivers from sub-
contractors. We conduct a punch list for each trade as well
as an overall list for substantial completion. dbRight also provides
commissioning to monitor building performance and
11-month warranty visits.

Every dbRight project begins with a detailed dialogue about the
client’s goals. It’s indispensable to hear firsthand how the client

shell or a series of renovations, remodels, or ground-up projects,
we pride ourselves on employing our expertise in the service of
realizing each client’s vision.


We maintain a collaborative process in which the client’s voice
informs each phase of design and construction. We understand
that constant communication is integral to a successful project. In
this way, our clients get the project they want, within the necessary
time frame, and on the budget they’ve allocated for the job.
BED BATH & BEYOND – Multiple Locations
dbRight continues to partner with Bed Bath & Beyond as the national
retailer grows its business in expanding markets across the country.
dbRight’s suite of design-build and project management services are
adaptable to both large and small scales, an asset reflected in the
firm’s work with Bed Bath & Beyond. In one recent project, dbRight
oversaw the selective interior remodelling of a 40,000-square-foot
Bed Bath & Beyond store in Tampa, FL. New, ongoing projects
include the administration and project management of extensive
exterior site renovation work at a location in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
RUE 21 – North Attleboro, MA
dbRight is proud to announce the grand opening of rue 21’s
600th store. rue 21 provides a vibrant environment for its youthful
customer base. The majority of their stores are located at regional
shopping malls. dbRight was the general contractor for this project,
constructing the interior fit-out in from start to finish in a period
of five weeks. dbRight is now a preferred contractor for rue 21
throughout the U.S., providing quality construction, contracting,
and design-build services.
OFFICE DEPOT – Multiple Locations
In addition to conventional Office Depot retail projects dbRight and
SBLM have provided services for a number of Office Depot support
facilities. This work includes design-build of the Business Service
Division regional offices, Corporate and regional print facilities,
Corporate Test lab and planogram spaces, various feasibility and due
diligence studies for logistical support facilities and regional support
centers. dbRight’s turnkey design-build services have provided Office
Depot with a high level of reliability, speed, efficiency, and economy
and a significant reduction in the amount of change orders due to
the seamless communication between the contractor and architect.
OFFICE DEPOT DISTRIBUTION CENTER – Newville, PA
In 2010, Office Depot opened it’s first state of the art distribution
center to be registered under the USGBC LEED rating system.
Designed to be LEED-Silver, the project includes various energy
and water reduction systems, recycled material construction, and
a comprehensive recycling program for operational waste. SBLM
Architects and dbRight LLC delivered the project via an expedited
design-build project delivery system. The design-build team worked
with the local municipality to establish a phased occupancy of
the facility. SBLM Architects/dbRight worked closely with the
subcontractors and Office Depot’s supply chain vendors on the roll-
out of the Kiva robotic fulfillment system, which services up to 30
trucks on both the unloading and receiving sides.
OFFICE DEPOT HVAC ROLL-OUTS – Multiple Locations
dbRight specializes in roll-out initiatives, maintenance and capital
expenditure projects. One recent example is the 44-store HVAC
replacement project for Office Depot. Working in 13 states throughout
the US, dbRight is managing the full program. dbRight is the single-
source Construction Manager on the project, working in conjunction
with Office Depot’s global account equipment vendor, and utilizing
HVAC sub-contractors in 5 different regions. The progress for each
store is tracked on a daily basis, with a completion time of 8 weeks
for the entire roll-out.
TRANSLOAD AMERICA – Miami, FL
TransLoad America (TLA) is a leader in rail-based transfer,
transportation, recycling, and disposal of solid waste. TLA commissioned
dbRight and SBLM to design its new waste transfer facility in
Miami, Florida. Located on a six-acre site, the project consists of
a 30,000-square-foot waste transfer building, a 1,500-square-foot
office building, and an 800-square-foot gate house. The new facility
will provide services to collect local construction debris for sorting
and transportation via truck or rail to either landfills or recycling
centers. dbRight and SBLM implemented a host of sustainable
design initiatives, and steered the project through an extensive and
complex permitting process.

  • 14. OFFICE DEPOT HVAC ROLL-OUTS – Multiple Locations dbRight specializes in roll-out initiatives, maintenance and capital expenditure projects. One recent example is the 44-store HVAC replacement project for Office Depot. Working in 13 states throughout the US, dbRight is managing the full program. dbRight is the single- source Construction Manager on the project, working in conjunction with Office Depot’s global account equipment vendor, and utilizing HVAC sub-contractors in 5 different regions. The progress for each store is tracked on a daily basis, with a completion time of 8 weeks for the entire roll-out.
  • 15. TRANSLOAD AMERICA – Miami, FL TransLoad America (TLA) is a leader in rail-based transfer, transportation, recycling, and disposal of solid waste. TLA commissioned dbRight and SBLM to design its new waste transfer facility in Miami, Florida. Located on a six-acre site, the project consists of a 30,000-square-foot waste transfer building, a 1,500-square-foot office building, and an 800-square-foot gate house. The new facility will provide services to collect local construction debris for sorting and transportation via truck or rail to either landfills or recycling centers. dbRight and SBLM implemented a host of sustainable design initiatives, and steered the project through an extensive and complex permitting process.
