2. Album covers that appeal to me The imagery on all three of these album covers have no relation to the music produced or the band in question, the streets always use buildings, bus stops, city scapes etc as do the Arctic monkeys except for the album on this page which has a picture of one of their friends on the front. In terms of colour scheme there are two images on this page that use a lot of greys and blacks and one that is a sepia tone, both of which create a mood depending on the consumer. Colour scheme is important with some albums but I feel when using random images that don’t really relate to anything to do with the album or music then the colour scheme isn't as important and the consumer can make their own analysis on the subject.

3. Colour schemes Colour scheme is key when designing an album cover that involves the band such as this one, the Saturdays are a pop band that sing songs about love and so on. Blue for the back ground gives of a happy vibe, they all have their own colours that they are sitting on as well purple, green, yellow, orange and red which coincidently almost make all the colours of the rainbow. Red is an angry colour and Slipknot is an angry band belonging to the metal genre. The band is never seen without their masks on which makes them stand out from the rest of the metal bands on the market. Red, black and grey, there are no happy colours in this image because the people who listen to this music have no interest in happiness.

4. Font Analysis Happy fonts are used on this album cover to go along with the band image, more times than not the font or one of the fonts in this case will be used as the font throughout the whole album for things like the booklet explaining each song and the track names on the back. The fonts used here are curvy and along with the image this all becomes very appealing to men and women alike. Blocky, spikey writing for a fairly terrifying band. Fonts are chosen very careful for bands suck as slipknot, the font will stay with them throughout their career becoming a form of logo so it is important that it is right from the start. There is nothing ‘’sexy’’ or ‘’slick’’ about the font used on this album because it is not there to attract males or females in that way. You either like the music or you don’t and heavy metal is a market made up of cult followers that don’t care about fonts or images of the band.

5. Barcodes There are some conventions to be followed when making an album such as Band name, Album name, copy right details and barcodes.

6. Copyright The white box indicates the copyright information for this album it will contain the name and address of the company that represents the band in question as well as some other legal stuff.

7. My first draft This was my first effort at designing an album cover for our band ‘’Cape Karoo’’ that will be launching their new album ‘’Run.’’ I decided the band name should be bigger than the album name because it is more important but at the same time the album name is up right instead of on its side which makes up for the text size. The image I put in is a sepia tone because I feel it is neutral and the subject is walking away from camera with lots of head space meaning he is heading somewhere or leaving something relating to the album name ‘’Run’’.

8. Our working Idea One of our group members Talisa produced this as her first draft and I feel it really works. In the world we live in today global warming is a big thing and one way to slow it down is by recycling so the fact our album cover is made out of card board and the recycling sign is on it may appeal to a market and seeing as our band is quite indie and folky I think this idea ties in nicely. The girl sat down and the boy stood up both facing away could perhaps signify problems at home or in a relationship so the title ‘’Run’’ definitely works in that sense. I think we are going to go ahead and use this idea but we may have to develop it slightly.
