1. Splash ~ Chermside January 2009 During 08/09 School holidays we had a short holiday up at Alexandra Heads, then kids had lots of play-dates and sleepovers as well as going to Splash.
2. March 2009 Boys enjoyed playing cricket for Pine Rivers Tigers U12s. For the 09/10 season, Rus is now the co-coach and they are doing really well. The boys also played soccer for Pine Rivers United and won the grand final for indoor soccer at PCYC. Phoebe continued with hockey and dancing and has been selected for Chorus next year. Phoebe had a fabulous 9 th birthday with 2 sleepover parties with her school and hockey friends to celebrate her 21 st March birthday.
3. Easter Camping Trip – Kenilworth Went camping with 4 neighbourhood families ~ very wet weather but lots of fun with activities like sliding into Mary River down old concrete slide, canoeing and rock-climbing!
4. Teewah - April 2009 Stayed up at a friends’ parents’ Beach House for the Anzac Day weekend. Rus and boys did plenty of fishing and kids all enjoyed playing in the surf and on the beach.
5. May/July 2009 C elebrated our niece/cousin Olivia’s 1 st birthday. Kids participated in J-Rock on 29 th July (junior school Rock Eisteddfod at Brisbane E/Centre) and Jane helped out with supervision/makeup. This year Phoebe also participated in Senior Choir and continued to learn violin.
6. Wet 2009 - Lots of rain fell during Autumn and Winter leading to lots of local flooding and spectacular scenes at spillway when they released overflowing dam water.
7. 6 th August ~ Mitchell and Hayden’s 11 th Birthday The boys were excited to get Ripstiks for their birthday and they rode on them and scooters with their mates for their sleepover party.
8. Deep Sea Fishing Trip Rus and the boys waited a long time to go on this trip as it was often cancelled due to weather conditions before they finally went out. The sea was a little rough and the boys were both a bit seasick but they loved the experience. Rus has had a busy year with a number of trips away for work including Vanuatu ; his golf trip to Tasmania and Bucks trip down the coast.
9. Ekka 2009 This is just the 2 nd time the kids have been to the Ekka – exhausting and expensive but fun!
10. August and 21 November 2009 Hayden broke his left wrist on his Ripstik mid August. Luckily he could still go fishing and do his schoolwork. Unfortunately though he missed out on playing for Brisbane School District Rep Cricket Team that he was selected for. At a later trial, Mitchell was selected for Brisbane North Rep side where matches are to be played in January 2010. After many pre-wedding celebrations, Rus was best man at Brad & Jodie’s Dockside wedding.
11. Phoebe’s Dance Concert – 6 th December The theme this year was Spooky – Phoebe was awarded a High Distinction in the grading.
12. Mitchell & Hayden’s Last Day at Petrie State School - 11 th December The boys were sad to leave their school mates but are excited about going to St Paul’s next year for grade 7. They’re going on a school camp in February to Tallebudgera and Phoebe is going on her first school camp to Maranatha in March.
13. December 2009 – Parties! Kids all competed at Petrie State School’s Swimming Carnival -Mitchell came 2 nd in 50m Breaststroke & Freestyle and got 3 rd Overall Boys 11 yrs Champion. Hayden won 25m Freestyle and broke the school record! Both boys were in the winning Patterson team for the freestyle relay. Phoebe got 2 firsts and a second ribbon and got 2 nd overall Girl 9yrs Champion. She’ll compete in next year’s District Swimming Carnival. Kids went to Jessica’s Birthday Party then we hosted a Pool Party at our Place.
14. Christmas 2009 We had Christmas brekkie at our place with Peter and Noelle, Damien, Bec and Olivia, then Christmas lunch here with Jane’s family. Olivia loved opening presents! Mitchell, Hayden and Phoebe got some great presents from Santa including some new blow-up pool toys and a pink Ripstik for Phoebe!
