Printing is now know to have been first
developed in the seventh century (600-699)
in Korea and china where printing from
wooden blocks was developed.

The diamond sutra dated 868 is one of most
famous of these early printed works, and
combines words and pictures.
A copy of the Chinese version of diamond
sutra, found in the early 20th century is in the
words of the British library, the earliest
complete survival of dated printed book.
By the 14th century the technique of printing
from metal type had been developed Korea.
