2. TECHNOLOGY What does that word mean to you? Remember your answer to that question Because it may be about to change
3. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TECHNOLOGY TO DO FOR YOU? OR TO YOU?
4. As we define the role technology will play in our lives, we cannot ignore the polarizing effect it is already responsible for. Shouldn’t it be shrinking? The gap between the technically literate and illiterate is growing
7. THINGS TO CONSIDER Computers and the internet have combined to create the most powerful communication tool in history. We now have the ability to communicate with the world at previously unheard of or imagined ease and speed
18. Very soon being technically illiterate will carry the same stigma and handicaps that not being able to read holds today… THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MOMENT
19. The percentage of people who are unable to functionally read and write is tragic… and growing… The Question Nobody Wants to Ask : What happens when these people are joined by the “technically illiterate” trying to secure employment in a shrinking number of unskilled labor positions????
20. You wont need the machine to answer that question you will be able to ask your daughters new fiancé..
21. Many feel that with things like nano-technology the machine will have the ability to extend our lives for hundreds or even thousands of years. What will we do with all the people???
23. The machine is not our friend The machine IS: The machine is not our enemy A fact of life that requires your attention
24. There will always be exceptions… but it is becoming clear that society Is breaking down into two classes of people You are either one of those who runs the machine…. or one of those the machine runs over..
25. WELCOME TO THE MACHINE PART TWO: “THE ANSWERS” JUST HOW SCREWED ARE YOU?
26. Technology is in it’s infancy...none of us will be around to see it mature completely. Like all things, the mature technology will be a reflection of the way it is allowed to develop in its formative years .
27. So in addition to adapting to the changes technology promises We are also responsible for making sure that those who come after us will not have to deal the changes technology threatens .
28. So while the effects technology will bring to the workplace is our focus today…. It is vital that you be an educated, active voice in the debate technology will surely bring us tomorrow
29. Get educated today so that you can stay employable and competitive. Almost every industry on the planet is going through the same rapid technological changes we are facing in radio If a component of any industry or an entire industry itself does not, or cannot change and adapt it is quickly being replaced This is surprising nobody, everybody is aware this is happening all around them… Don’t bury your head in the sand and try to convince yourself that the same thing does not apply to your job
31. Get educated so tomorrow you can participate in possibly the most important dialogue in the history of mankind The machine has brought with it all the earmarks And potential of an elitist society If common people do not stay informed and educated, the decisions that control our lives will be made in laboratories, at universities and in private government meetings When common people lose touch with the ideas and philosophies that make up the framework of our lives we are no longer people. We become parts of the machine
32. Technology can bring us many blessings and things we cannot even imagine today. If we cannot meet our responsibility to stay educated we may very possibly surrender things like humanity compassion God liberty
