1. How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
2. • Our media product represents a particular social group in one main way.
The naive male character who is meeting up with a young lady to go to a
party is all he can think about. Bearing in mind that the setting is based at
7pm and the night’s sky is dark. Cutting down a dark alley and the risks of
being attacked doesn’t even come to mind.
• At the beginning of our thriller when there is a phone call between a man
and woman, you assume something is going to happen. Most of the
audience would assume that maybe the woman will encounter the
problem as in most real life cases that are what happens at that time of
night. This thriller shows night encounters from a different aspect of a
male being attacked.
• Night Encounter shows young adults in a negative way. This is because
instead of calling a cab or getting taken to the party in a safe way, the
route the man takes is a dangerous and risky route. The negative
stereotype of not being safe in your own street at night comes true and
has a positive reaction to the audience who watch the thriller. As it shows
them real life circumstances that take place.
