There are many references to the postmodernism idea of confusion over spaceand time in all the episodes of harry hills TV burp most of the show is made up of this. The way that he uses the idea of the episode with great effect often with humours effect. The first episode of the new series has harry starting off in the studio and then ending up inserting himself into an episode of Easterners. Lets take a look. This has become one of the most used trade mark that he uses, he also uses characters and ideas from different episodes and copies them into a makeshift show. Most often he uses the story line from the show but changes the meaning as well, although this is not confusions over time and space it links into it. I'm not sure about this, but its funny so I thought I would show it. I'm not sure if its confusions over time and space but lets see. Most of the show make the audience confused about the time and location therefore its hard to find examples of it, without making watch an entire episode.
In these videos Harry Hill takes documentaries and alters the meaning so that it becomes funny. There is a meta-narrative view of Hitler and the Nazis and the view they had of the Jewish community; so Harry Hill takes that view and altars it to give it comic effect. In the penguin video, Harry Hill altars the truth of the documentary – the documentary presents a theory about nature and by adding in a sound effect Harry Hill changes the entire moral of the programme and therefore changes the meta-narrativeBy changing what we believe about a certain historical figure or the meaning of a documentary, Harry Hill is breaking down the meta-narrative which therefore makes his show postmodern.
Here shows a video of harry hill copying Britney spears, this is a simulacrum. This is also a version of a parody as it is a reference to other programs which points out the comedy parts of the media text. However he is also doing a parody of X factor by when he is introducing Britney spears and taking the Mick out of her. Instead of using good comments on the part where x factor introduces the artist, he changed it so it says bad comments for example, ‘baldy’ ‘not very friendly’ pants are two tight’
Harry Hill’s TV burp uses intertextuality throughout the programme as it constantly references to other programmes. This example shows intertextuality in 2 ways; it references to the programme ‘top of the pops’ and also references to three individual programmes, waterloo road, coronation street and doctors.
