3. Safety
Crime is not a problem in Pola de Siero. It´s a small and calm village, so
there aren´t so many problems or conflicts to deal with.
In fact, I think Pola de Siero is one of the best places to live in Asturias
because there is a respectful neighbourhood environment and all people are
very friendly with each other.
I think that the only place and time you should avoid to pass through is the
street where most of the pubs are located and young people use to have
party and drink alcohol during Friday´s night.
In conclusion, drunk people is the only fact you have to be careful! Of
course, you can call the police if you need it. They will attend you at the
moment.
4. Getting around
As I said before, Pola de Siero is a small village, so most of the people get
around it by foot because all the necessities are within a walking distance.
If you prefer using public transports, there aren´t lots of facilities for you
because there is neither train nor bus to move around the city. There are
only public transports for going outside of the village.
Instead you can take a taxi in the unique taxi rank of Pola de Siero or ride
your own bicycle because you aren´t able to hire one.
In conclusion, it´s not the best place on providing transports for getting
around it.
5. Sightseeing
First, you should see the theatre. It´s a new, modern architecture building
of the village.
Second, you should visit the town hall and the “Alfonso X” park which is
behind. The town hall is one of the oldest buildings of Pola de Siero. The
town hall and the park form together a beautiful place to enjoy.
Finally, you should go to “Les Campes” square at Sunday´s morning for
getting the real atmosphere of the village. There you will find lots of pubs
and people having a really good time.
6. Local customs
An important custom here which you should know is that every time
waiters give you a drink, they also give you some snack to eat with it.
You should also know that it´s typical to tip some money to waiters, not
much.
7. Shopping
