Man Who Steals Millions Worth of Virtual Poker Chips
Jailed, Shows That Poker Sites Protect You!

Virtual poker or online poker, as millions of gamers call it, has
become a solid industry. It is hard to imagine that just a few years
ago, virtual poker was a small industry known to only a few,
with those few had to have Internet access. Today, virtual poker is
a billion dollar industry and many of these companies are making
sure that it remains that way by providing trustworthy service that
people can rely on. At the same time, giving value to the services
they offer is something the customers enjoy and appreciate a lot.

To prove that the industry is on its guard in protecting its
businesses, news of a British hacker that goes by the name of
Ashley Mitchell will be spending jail time for stealing virtual
poker chips. Take note that he is criminally prosecuted and will
be going to jail for stealing virtual chips. Ashley Mitchell is said
to be guilty of stealing around 400 billion virtual poker chips.
How much is the value of these chips? The chips are said to be worth 12 million US dollars! Just
imagine how big the industry is when virtual chips can be worth 12 million US dollars! Wow, it is
amazing!

The British hacker who just pleaded guilty to theft admits that he is a gambler and one that
frequents gaming sites every single day. He said that he targeted a particular gaming site and this
site is successful in social media addresses, such as Facebook, where it extends its game play.

Ashley Mitchell posed as an administrator and hacked into the site to steal chips. The account of
the hacker was reported in news giants such as BBC.

He tried to launder the money and earned £53,000 (nearly US$86,000) but was caught and
apprehended, making his antics a violation of the money laundering act. This just proves how
these online sites make sure that their facilities will not be used for money laundering activities. It
is amazing how fast the transaction went and how fast the site and the authorities caught up with
the hacker.

The British hacker was penalized and charged with violating the Computer Misuse Act. Mitchell
did not put up a fight and instead admitted he was guilty. His guilty plea was heard by Exeter
Crown Court's Judge Philip Wassall. The judge said he would be behind bars for years due to this
theft.

So, you see, there is no crime that should be left unpunished. And even if it was a cyber crime, it is
much easier to trace and the consequence is dreadful.
