2. The Pinatubo is an active volcano located on the island of Luzon in the Philippines.

3. In June 1991 produced the second largest terrestrial eruption of the 20th century. The effects of the eruption were felt worldwide. Volcanic activity increased throughout May. Over 800 people were killed by the eruption. Since 1991, Pinatubo has remained active, with twenty activity events reported in 1992, three in 1993, four in 1994, two in 1995, and one each in 1996 and 2002.
