1. A few of the errors I have made while writing my papers are misuse of commas,
being too tentative, and using “that” instead of “who” or “whom.” Also, in the beginning,
I used “you” in my papers, but I have worked hard to make sure I do not use “you”
anymore. I am working hard on fixing these problems in my writing. For example, I have
been using OWL and grammar girl to remind me the rules for commas.
In one of my papers, I was too tentative; I used a lot of “seems.” I was not
confident in my paper, because I was having a hard time in analyzing the stories, for they
were very complex and I did not have a lot of time in which to do this. One way I am
fixing this, is giving myself more time to analyze stories and to have confidence in my
papers.
A few other mistakes I have made are commas, using “you,” and using “that”
instead of “who” or “whom.” For my comma mistakes, I will be using OWL and
grammar girl to remind me the rules for commas. As for using “you” in papers, I have
begun to make sure while editing to search for any “you” and rewriting that part of my
paper. Lastly, for using “that” instead of “whom” or “who” I will try to stop using “that”
too much, and being more specific.
In the beginning, I used “you” in my papers, but I have worked hard to make sure
I do not use “you” any more. A few of the other errors I have made while writing my
papers are commas, being too tentative, and using “that” instead of “who” or “whom.” I
will continue to work on these problems that I have been “caught” committing in my
papers.
