Accessing	
  the	
  message	
  library	
  
                  Using	
  Quick	
  Search	
  
                  1.  Type	
  in	
  a	
  key	
  word,	
  eg	
  “diarrhoea”.	
  All	
  
                      messages	
  containing	
  that	
  word	
  will	
  
                      appear	
  highlighted	
  in	
  yellow.	
  The	
  list	
  
                      includes	
  messages	
  related	
  to	
  different	
  
                      sectors.	
  	
  
                  2.  Choose	
  the	
  message	
  you	
  want,	
  then	
  click	
  
                      on	
  the	
  red	
  text	
  to	
  access	
  the	
  message	
  
                      itself.	
  	
  
                                3.  The	
  message	
  contains	
  
                  	
                addiFonal	
  informaFon	
  such	
  
                                    as	
  type	
  of	
  message,	
  source,	
  
                  	
                target	
  audience	
  and	
  at-­‐risk	
  
                                    group.	
  It

                        Using	
  Advanced	
  Search	
  
                        1.  Choose	
  to	
  see	
  list	
  either	
  
                                  alphabe'cally	
  or	
  by	
  sector	
  
                        2.  Select	
  an	
  issue	
  in	
  the	
  drop	
  down	
  
                                  box.	
  All	
  corresponding	
  threats	
  
                                  will	
  then	
  appear	
  in	
  the	
  next	
  drop	
  
                                  down	
  box	
  ‘threat’.	
  
                        	
   	
  
                        Eg	
  
                        Choose

  Health’	
  as

  • 3. Terms  of  Use   •  Sets  out  objecFves  of  tool   •  Lists  what  you  need  to   consider  when  developing   your  communicaFon   strategy   •  Once  you  “accept”  at   bo5om  of  screen,  you  can   access  the  library  
  • 4. InformaFon  icons   You  can  find  out  more   informaFon  on   different  secFons  of   the  library  by  clicking   on  ‘show’  under  any   one  of  the  three               icons      
  • 5. Accessing  the  message  library   Using  Quick  Search   1.  Type  in  a  key  word,  eg  “diarrhoea”.  All   messages  containing  that  word  will   appear  highlighted  in  yellow.  The  list   includes  messages  related  to  different   sectors.     2.  Choose  the  message  you  want,  then  click   on  the  red  text  to  access  the  message   itself.     3.  The  message  contains     addiFonal  informaFon  such   as  type  of  message,  source,     target  audience  and  at-­‐risk   group.  It  may  also  include   links  to  communicaFon   materials  from  past   emergencies    
  • 6. Accessing  the  message  library   Using  Advanced  Search   1.  Choose  to  see  list  either   alphabe'cally  or  by  sector   2.  Select  an  issue  in  the  drop  down   box.  All  corresponding  threats   will  then  appear  in  the  next  drop   down  box  ‘threat’.       Eg   Choose  ‘Child  Health’  as  the  ‘Issue’.       You  will  see  that  ARIs,  Diarrhoea,   Malaria,  Measles,  and  Poor  neo-­‐ natal  health  appear  as  ‘threats’  in   the  drop  down  menu.  Every   selecFon  you  make  in  the  four  drop   down  boxes  will  act  as  a  filter  for  the   list  of  messages  that  appear  below.      
  • 7. StarFng  a  new  search   To  start  a  new  search,  either  click  on  “remove”  under  Currently  Selected   Criteria  or  the  ‘Reset  search’  bu5on  
  • 8. SensiFve  messages   SensiFve  messages  are  colour  coded.     A  Red  exclama'on  mark  means  highly   sensiFve;  orange  means  moderately   sensiFve.       For  example:   -­‐  Type  in  ‘Gender-­‐based  violence’  in  the   quick  search  box   -­‐  Click  on  the  first  message  –  Importance   of  seeking  medical  care  post  rape   -­‐  The  first  message  has  an  orange   warning.   -­‐  The  second  has  a  red  warning  which   restricts  access  to  message  content   unFl  you  have  answered  the  prompts   and  clicked  on  ‘I  understand’   -­‐  AddiFonal  guidance  is  wri5en  under   the  message.
