Managing the risks relating to infections in both
health & social care is a high priority for all Health &
Social Care providers.
Compliance with the Health & Social Care Act 2008
(Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, Code of
Practice (2015), requires compliance with a range of
fundamental standards (previously essential stand-
ards) which will be reviewed during the revised
CQC inspection process in 2016/2017.
These new Key Lines of Enquiry that directly relate
to five key questions encompassing these funda-
mental standards will be used during inspection.
Included in the question relating to the provision of
safe care protecting people from avoidable harm is

detect and control the spread of infections inc.
those that are associated with health care.
