2. THE MEANING OF THE U.S. FLAG
The stars in the U.S. flag represent the 50
states and its stripes are the thirteen original
colonies.
Each color has a meaning to the flag. The
white represents its purity and innocence.
Blue did not have a meaning until 1777. It
now stands for the chief, which is justice,
vigilance, and perseverance. Red is the
valor and the hardiness.
3. BODIES OF WATER SURROUNDING THE UNITED
STATES
The Pacific Ocean borders the west coast of
the united states.
The Atlantic Ocean borders the east coast of
the united states.
The Gulf of Mexico borders Texas, Louisiana,
Mississippi, Alabama, Florida.
4. CHESAPEAKE BAY
Is the largest estuaries in the United States!
More than 150 rivers and streams end here
and it is connected to the Atlantic Ocean.
The states that border Chesapeake bay are
Virginia and Maryland.
5. PUGET SOUND
Washington is the only state that borders it
and it is shared with Canada.
It also connects to the Pacific Ocean
It is the second largest estuary.
6. GREAT SALT LAKE
It is found in Utah, you can’t drink water from
this lake because of it’s saltiness.
It believed to be created by an iceberg that
was left from the last ice age.
Due to the saltiness of the lake there is a
limited amount of aquatic life.
7. NIAGARA FALLS
The Niagara Falls is actually 3 different falls.
Canada and the state of New York border it.
The water from the falls flows into the great
lakes.

The Great Lakes are actually 5 lakes.
Their names are Superior, Michigan, Huron,
Erie, Ontario.
The lakes are also used as a natural border
between the United States and Canada.

Missouri River- is one of the longests river in
the United States, it also flows into the
Mississippi River.
It flows through 7 states.
The name Missouri means those who have
dug out canoes.

The name Mississippi was given to it by
Indians it means big river.
It runs through 10 states and it ends at the
gulf of Mexico.

It is also known as big river.
15. THE RIO GRANDE
This river serves as a natural border between
the state of Texas and Mexico.
This river begins in Colorado and ends in the
Gulf of Mexico.
16. UNITED STATES FACTS
As of July 2011 its population was 313,232,044.
Based on land area the U. S. is the largest country in
the world.
44 presidents have lead the United States, as of
today.
The new president is Barack Obama and he is
serving his second term.
George Washington was the 1st president of the
United States.
Washington, D.C. is the capital of the United States.

There is more than 250,000 rivers.
For example the Mississippi is one of the
largest rivers in the Unites States.
One of the longest rivers is Missouri, which
flows approximately 2,500 miles.
