- 3. #1. Social TV is an extension of people’s natural desire to share things that they are watching or experiencing. Humans are social animals. It’s in our nature to share stuff that we enjoy. Social media is a great tool that allows this nature to go into full bloom. It’s now hard to find any TV station or show without some form of social media integration in place. Shows like American Idol or The Voice employ Twitter hashtags so that people will be encouraged to tweet, and they sometimes air selected tweets from their feeds.
