5 Big Mistakes That Bloggers Make
If you have just entered the world of blogging, or if you’ve been blogging for a short time and find that things are
not working as expected, it will be worth your while to spend some time understanding the errors most bloggers
making common mistakes that make it difficult to enjoy what should be a pleasant experience that satisfies:
Blogging!
The five most common mistakes new bloggers are:
Angle (instead of travel)
Have unrealistic expectations
Development of losing
Plagiarize
Ignoring the reader
Diving! Many bloggers are so excited to begin this dive instead of wading slowly – it is a little error in a family pool
or pond and it is wrong to take the next step as the “blogosphere.” Consider this stuff before you begin your blog:
Find a home for your blog… an approach that reflects what you know, what interests you and what you like to talk
and write. No subject is off limits: politics, religion, science, sexual orientations, comedy, exercise, diet, disease,
etc…
2. Take the time to read dozens of different blogs: note the colors, graphics and drawings to get an idea of what
you like. Also note that some bloggers are long-winded and others are short and to the point . . . others are just
chatty and entertaining and have no particular point to make . . . this is also a personal style, you can choose.
You need a host for your blog, some are free, some charge a small fee per month for their service, some are easy
to use and some require more expertise, some have more features than others; choose carefully, once you have
established your blog and have some regular readers do not want to change their address (URL).
You may or may not want to use your real name on your blog, it depends on many factors, and not the least of
which is your position on controversial issues and how they wish to be publicly identified their views.
Unrealistic expectations! If you come to blogs that expect immediate results: a large number of players and
many rave reviews, you may be disappointed. There are tens of thousands of blogs online vying for the same
audience. Patience and pertinacity are essential on your part. If you write well, find a niche to fill, have catchy
titles for your posts and tirelessly promote your blog readers and comments (some are free) will come.
Lose focus! When you started your blog, you had a specific reason to do so; I could express their views on an
issue or it could have been communicating only with a close circle of friends about their daily activities. Readers
come to your blog for the first time, or are interested in your topic or not, is like his style or not and if they like the
theme and style can comment and then come back later. Once you have established a theme and tone for your
blog that you are free to change it, but to do that, you’re basically starting all.
Note that you can have more than one blog, each dedicated to a specific topic and each, if desired, with a different
identity.
Plagiarism! There are some great bloggers out there and while browsing through blogs that you can find one that
says something really good, something that resonated with you and something you want to put on your blog. NOT
just copy and paste someone’s words on your blog without giving them credit, making it look to the world that the
words are yours. If you write it, I write it in your own words and write better, adding their own thoughts and feelings
and then mercy, mentioning where you got the idea and provide a link.
Ignoring the reader! Some of those who browse your blog will leave comments; some readers will agree with you
and some readers may even rent their ideas, but most choose a point that you made and criticize. People leave
comments on other blogs for the same reason they blog, share ideas and express their opinions. Always answer
your reader comments; we thank you for reading and for taking the time to comment (even the harshest critics)
and then respond, if necessary, to your comment. If you ignore your readers’ comments may end up ignoring your
blog.
