The Great Migration was the movement of 2 million African Americans out of Southern states between 1910-1930 to escape racism and find jobs in Northern cities. This influx of black workers to places like Chicago caused urban tensions with European immigrant workers over jobs and housing. The 1918 flu pandemic killed between 50-100 million people worldwide in one of the deadliest natural disasters in history. Known as the "Spanish flu", it overwhelmed healthcare systems and caused many deaths within a short time period before quickly disappearing in late 1918.
