to the full product?
• During the preliminary task I believe It helped me work with and improve the use of the
camcorder. This therefore meant it was quite simple to do our actual filming. Even though I
didn’t film (I was acting) I helped out my group members in establishing the correct and best
way of using the camcorder.

task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it
to the full product?
Pre-production is the way in which you prepare for the key agendas which
are needed for a film. For our film opening we created a story board
where drew out the camera angles and we also commented on what
camera angles they were. We also wrote on our story board if props were
needed and where we wanted to film. This turned out to be very useful for
me and my group as it set out a guide in which me and my group would
follow. Moreover, our group also set out a day in which we would film; this
meant we were able to prepare and also bring props for the day.

to the full product?
The day we went out for our production date our group decided to keep our
storyboard plan the same however we did have a few problems which meant we
had to change the actual plan. However some of the changes we made were
better then the some of the things we produced on the storyboard. We first
thought it would make a big difference to our film opening but it overall came out
good. Even though I didn’t film I helped my group by sharing the knowledge I
knew about using the camera with them. My group was also very good at using
the camera as we developed our skills from the preliminary task. The preliminary
task was very beneficial to us.

task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it
to the full product?
After we filmed we had done our post production which is when the
footage it constructed together so it makes sense to the audience. For the
post production we used a application called FinalCut Pro to assemble the
footage together. However, not only did we assemble the footage but we
used the other techniques which were needed for the film, these were the
conventions for the film. We added the cast member names and titles
whilst using effects such as fade ins and fade outs to make it more
professional. After the process of the editing we imported our opening in
to SoundTrack Pro where we added spooky sounds to finish off our thriller.
We used the sound from the the application which were hard to find
however we managed to find a decent sound which went with our film.
We also used foley sound to make the natural sounds in our film louder.

task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it
to the full product?
• Overall, from both of my preliminary task and my final thriller opening I
have managed to learn how to use a camcorder properly and also how
much work it takes to create a film as it is a long process. But not only has
it helped me on how to use a camcorder but also I have learnt how to use
software such as FinalCut Pro and SoundTrack Pro as from the start of the
project I didn’t know anything about it. On the other hand there were a
few problems that we had such as not being able to match the filming
together due to filming only done once. But we eventually came over this
problem by filming again. This could have been a major problem because
we didn’t think about this whilst we were making our preliminary. In
conclusion I am extremely pleased with me and my group as we created a
outstanding thriller opening.
