Creating the Washington Health Partnership Plan (passed in winter of 2007 during the 110 th Congressional session) Key phrases from this bill: low-income, childless adults, preventive services, incentives, cost-sharing options
Bill summarized: works in favor of health care. Unsure of how this bill will play out as federal policy changes with health care reform Increased eligibility= more people covered under Medicaid and related programs (lead-in to Take Charge)
Take Charge is a program sponsored by Medicaid that covers preventive family planning services (contraception). Since 2005, federal restrictions have led to a decrease in clientele by 52% (which is HUGE!). This largely affected people who are not legal US citizens, or those who have family medical insurance but would prefer not to use to as to keep confidentiality. Our current president is working to lift these restrictions, and with the economy in a decline, more and more people need federally-funded programs to support medical services.
