This document discusses the evolution of employee benefits from past to present to future. In the past, benefits were standardized and helped differentiate employers, but employees did not fully understand their value. Presently, benefits focus on developing an employment deal with choice, flexibility, and control to meet diverse workforce needs. In the future, benefits will provide even greater choice and flexibility, emphasize wellness, work-life balance, and increasing employee purchasing power through discounts. Organizations will need to ensure benefits remain relevant through surveys and minor tweaks, not major overhauls, using technology to manage complexity.
