2. What you need to know
O This Year there are 3 courses:
O All of Yr 10 will do the Lang IGCSE course
which comprises an IGCSE qualification in
English Language.
O Some of you have chosen the Literature
Major course which comprises the CIE IGCSE
World Literature Qualification.
O Some of you have chosen to study the
Literature Minor course which does not lead to
a qualification but will aim to foster your
enjoyment and skills in reading and analysing
different genres of world Literature.
3. For those of you who have chosen
either the Literature Major or
Literature Minor course, you will
have a separate teacher for these
courses and your teacher will
review the course in more detail
with you in the first lesson.
4. Lang
You will have 3 hrs per week for
this course with the same
teacher.
This course will cover the
syllabus for the IGCSE Lang
qualification as well as enriched
Literature content.
5. 1 Coursework – 2 written pieces -
Analytical and Personal Imaginative =
20%
2 Speaking & Listening Assessment x 3 =
10%
3 Exam - 3 Sections = 70%

7. Turnitin.com
As you can see there are two components to
your coursework, oral and written.
All written coursework must be submitted to
turnitin.com. This is used to ensure all work is
entirely your own and is also a means of ensuring
that a copy of your coursework is saved as a
backup.
Set up your Turnitin Account now.
Your teacher will give you your class ID and
enrollment password.
Log into Turnitin and follow the create an account
instructions – please ensure you save your class
login details carefully.
8. Filing Your Work
It is crucial that you organise
your work so that you can
easily locate work when you
need to.
It is not enough to save your
work in one place,
particularly the work you
need for the exam.
