2. GOALS:
During the international in-service course for teachers called European Teacher Synthesize
(ETSize):
1. Learning materials already developed for teacher trainees within the Comenius project
named “FACE IT” will be disseminated.
2. Mixed groups of teachers from several European countries transform these learning
materials into teaching material that can be used by their pupils.
3. The materials developed by the course participants will be brought together as online
teaching materials, including a teachers’ guide and bundled into an e-book, that will be
published online.
4. Course participants will learn how to work within a digital community (called moodle),
where they can upload the materials developed and share their experiences of usage.
5. The most important meaning of this course is to enhance the mobility of teachers and to
give the teachers tools to work with the European Dimension in education in Europe.
By working together in mixed European groups, producing teaching materials together, the
European Dimension in schools will be improved and international collaboration between
schools will be promoted and stimulated. A spin-off effect of participating in this ETSize
course might be the establishment of a "European Teacher" network of universities and
schools.
LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION:
The courses will be taught in English.
OUTCOME:
A group of 4 teachers will work internationally together and create international teaching
material as well as a teachers’ guide to be transformed into an e-book during the ETSize
conference in Bursa, Turkey from 6-10 September 2011.
PREPARATION TASK:
1. Introduce yourself on www.facebook.com/european.teachers
2. Visit http://www.see-
educoop.net/education_in/pdf/workshop/tesee/dokumenti/european-
teacher.pdf , read the article and formulate an answer to the question “What
is a European teacher?” Focus on the aspect “European Citizenship”!
Max. 10 lines, place them on the discussion forum on facebook.
3. According to the European Commission’s European principles for teacher
competences and qualifications „Teachers play a crucial role in supporting
the learning experience of young people and adult learners….. Their
profession, which is inspired by values of inclusiveness and the need to
nurture the potential of all learners, has a strong influence on society and
plays a vital role in advancing human potential and shaping future
generations.” Concerning the competencies of a European teacher: reflect on
the professional situation in your country? Will you have enough assistance
in order to achieve these competencies? On a local, regional, national level?
4. Students should be able to present the nutrition aspects within their
countries science education curriculum.
5. Students must prepare the materials needed for the presentation before
coming to Belgium, including information in written form available for all
participating students.

3. EVALUATION AND CERTIFICATION:
