Please bring in an artifact that is like something that you encountered, this may be some food or dress or plant, etc. You can be creative in how you present to the class, maybe even dress up. How to Train Future Tour Guides (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page A WebQuest for 7th Grade Geography Designed by Heidi Johnson [email_address] Based on a template from The WebQuest Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion Taken from Flickr by archer10 (Dennis)
Introduction (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Welcome! This lesson was developed for my EDUC 350 class at CSU. I used my practicum class room for my intended class, it is a 7 th grade Geography class. Currently we are studying the Middle East and for my lesson plan I wanted to implement a Webquest for the class. The section that I chose to concentrate on was Turkey. The students will learn about the culture and land of Turkey. After learning about the culture and land the students will be responsible to take the class on a tour guide through Turkey. Learners (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page This lesson was intended for a 7th grade World Geography class. This lesson could easily be paired with a history class, due to all that the students are learning about the history of Turkey. Students will have to have; * access to the internet * a notebook to take notes in * the knowledge of how to take good notes * an open mind to learning about another culture Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion Taken by Erroba from Flickr

The Process (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page I wanted to make it simple, and meaningful for the students to encounter Turkish culture to gain a respect for it. Here is the students task; Congratulations! You are a few steps closer to becoming a tour guide. If you could take us to Turkey through your 5 minute presentation we would all enjoy the experience. To introduce the topic of Turkey you may use the video from teachertube. Since you are the teaching future tour guides you should be able to answer questions that the students will bring up, this requires an knowledge about Turkish culture. Variations: I would have liked to have make the students choose different countries in the Middle East, so that there would be a different tour given and more verity of different cultures. Evaluation (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page When the students understand more about Turkish lands and culture by seeing them as real and relevant to their lives, then they have learned what was indented. I think that there needs to be a lot of enthusiasm. There also has to be room for the students to use their imaginations. Overall with these two combined the lesson should be successful. Teacher Script (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page The WebQuest model is best suited for learners who can navigate the Web on their own and can read the kinds of material commonly found on the Web. We can stretch the format to reach primary-aged learners, developmental English Language Learners and special populations by creating a facilitated WebQuest, one that requires an adult or older peer to drive things. In the Process page the student will click on the word that is underlined and brown to go the the web page that is talking about that information. To learn about Turkish culture the student will click on the word culture. Then one they are at the website they will read what is relevant to that subject. The First thing that is important is that you learn about Turkish culture . You may find that Radlaurs life story may help you learn about what it is like to live in Turkey. Conclusion (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Thank you for taking time to go through my lesson. I hope you enjoyed the experience. My hope is that the students will have a fun time by being tour guides. My main focus for was for the students to realize that the people living over in Turkey are real people in a real place. Pleas be able to find Turkey on a map . It would be helpful if you take a closer look at Turkey and are comfortable with the types of animals and plants you will encounter. Here is a slide show of pictures that will let you see what Turkey looks like. It is also important that you are familiar with the language in Turkey. Here are some facts that may me useful in discovering what Turkey is like. The food that you eat may be different from what you are use to but I hope you will enjoy it. After you have learned and become experts on what Turkey is like, you and your partner will give the class a tour. Please bring in an artifact that is like something that you encountered, this may be some food or dress or plant, etc. You can be creative in how you present to the class, maybe even dress up. If you could take us to Turkey through your 5 minute presentation we would all enjoy the experience.

This lesson could easily be paired with a history class, due to all that the students are learning about the history of Turkey. You will be assigned to work with another trainee, you can both work together to be able to cover all the information. The First thing that is important is that you learn about Turkish culture . You may find that Radlaurs life story may help you learn about what it is like to live in Turkey. It is also important that you are familiar with the terrain that you will encounter. Pleas be able to find Turkey on a map . It would be helpful if you take a closer look at Turkey and are comfortable with the types of animals and plants you will encounter. • 15.
