Task
You are to create a video presentation (anywhere between 3-5 minutes) that showcases your
skills in camera skills, video editing and production. You must work as a team to capture the
raw footage required; all camera work and editing must be the classes, however other grade
members may be involved in the actual footage. Your final production should demonstrate
the use of video, images and audio. This subject has a client focus and so you will be
preparing your video presentation for a client to use for promotional use (staff or students at
HCC assembly). You have been exposed to Adobe Premiere® and After Effects® this term,
and will use this product to edit your footage and add extra elements. You will be required to
utilise advanced features within both of these programs to demonstrate your skill and ability.
The final edit must be entirely original and a result of your own sequencing and thinking.
Topic
Produce a Promotional Broadcast
You will produce a promotional broadcast based on Year 11 camp for future year levels.
You are to:
• GROUP: Research the camp activities and understand what will be of value for the
filming process (owned by the entire 11 ICT class)
• GROUP: Pre-Produce: (P3) Production Schedule – (Who, what, where, when),
Production Overview
• INDIVIDUAL: Storyboard the video, based on the script, anticipating the type of
effects, camera shots, transitions and design your presentation will have in final
production. Please use the version of storyboarding format hosted on the course
website.
• INDIVIDUAL: Create this short movie production, by taking raw footage and editing it
in Adobe Premiere® and adding After Effects® in a creative context. The storyline
needs to be coherent and be appropriate for the intended audience.
Further to demonstrating competence in the use of the video editing software (Premiere Pro),
effects software (After Effects), you must also show skills for camera operation and acquiring
raw footage. In completing the assignment you will follow and provide evidence of the
Design and Development cycle with particular emphasis on design.
Design
For this process you will use your teacher as the client or another staff member at the school.
Determine and document his/her requirements for the presentation within the framework
given to you in this project. Ensure that you have a full understanding of the client
requirements. Maintain regular contact with client (at least every week) to ensure you meet
client requirements. Plan your project so that you can demonstrate as many of the features
of design and presentation as you can. Ensure that your video has a consistent design, and
that your design is of a sophisticated standard.

Hint: Planning your effects and transitions is key!! Don’t just put any/many varied transitions
and effects into your presentation just because you think you need to,
promotional/instructional broadcasts are most about consistency and appropriateness for the
variations; clarity and sophistication is a key objective rather than a messy and overly busy
production.
You must include:
Premiere Pro:
• Development of Video storyboards
• Organisational skills of organising your raw materials (video/audio footage etc)
• Capture of Video
• Editing of Video
• Adding transitions to your video
• Adding an overlay
• Adding video filters
• Adding a title to your video
• Creating closing credits
• Adding audio
• Create an image for video overlay
You might also include:
• A running marquee, broadcasting relevant information at the bottom of the screen
(like Sunrise/Today Show)
• Overlay an image with a transparent background
• Creating and animating a 3D title
• Create an image montage
After Effects:
• Layers
• Keyframes
• Compositions
• Motion Path
• Manipulating time
• Parenting
• Nesting and compositing
• Puppeting

Your plan is to be in writing and must be completed before the presentation is started (no
later than the 27th
September, 2013). This must also be resubmitted with the rest of your
assessment requirements by the final due date. It will be word processed and will include
headings or sections such as those below:
• The topic or subject of the multimedia presentation
• An outline of the client’s requirements
• A description of the target audience
• What your presentation is to achieve (sell, inform, promote, etc.)
• Any information that may need to be collected
• A list of typical videos, photos, images, sounds, titles etc, that may need to be
assembled
• A brief description of how you think the presentation may run
• An approximate timeline for this project
• A storyboard of your multimedia presentation
Develop
Undertake tuition and conduct some research with manuals on using the advanced features
of video, camera, scanner and multimedia software. Collect the information you need and
prepare any videos, photos, animations, clipart, sound, music etc you can use to incorporate
into the presentation. You should demonstrate proficiency in the use of advanced features of
the programs Adobe Premiere® and Adobe Effects®. (any other Adobe creative suite
software you may find useful)
Using your outline plan, prepare the content of the presentation. Add video, images,
animations, clipart, audio etc. Keep in contact with your client and obtain feedback on your
work as it progresses.
Run the presentation and critically evaluate if it has met the purpose you intended. Amend
the presentation if necessary. Get others to view it and offer suggestions for improvement.
Presentation
For assessment you will need to submit your:
(i) Task and criteria sheet.
(ii) Title page.
(ii) Copy of your design brief and video storyboard.
(iii) All working files saved to a folder called ‘assignment’ on C drive inside relevant
student folder (i.e. ‘jwilliams10). The presentation should be in executable form of
PAL MOV 352x288 (25fps).
A copy of your multimedia presentation will remain the property of the college, on the School
intranet.
