2. The criteria for the P-task was to create a video in school using a Match-on-action,
Reverse shot type and the 180 degree rule along with dialogue.
Here we have used a Match-on-action to show one scene from
two perspectives using the 180degree rule (school music
corridor).
Here we have used reverse shot types to present a conversation
whilst the audience views the actors from the previous speakers
point of view, this makes the audience feel more engaged with
the video (school staircase).
3. During the filming process of the P-task I learnt that there are many problems
which could easily ruin our footage. Filming in school was troublesome as students
would be walking past and sound levels would not be the same therefore our choice
of location helped us avoid this problem to an extent.
Sound is a problem as the actors have to adjust their voice as to how far the
camera is, also the corridors we chose to film in was usually empty during lesson
times but this meant that the actors voices would echo if they spoke too loud. We
used the echo of the music created from the lessons to our advantage and started
our film off with non-diegetic sound.
Organising actors was a major problem as not all our members were free at the
same times, this meant that we had limited time to film and edit. The actors also
weren’t wearing the same clothes therefore we were not able to film as frequently
as we would have liked due to the fact that this would create a continuity error.
We had to record nearly every scene more than once, this is partially because of
minor mistakes by actors but we also recorded most scenes a few times so that we
had a lot of footage for when we edited as not all the scenes would work together.
Framing proved to be more difficult that we had anticipated as our location was not
always flat /at one level, we only had a problem with framing one or two times
where our actors head is cut off but we decided to use these scenes as the actor
was usually entering or exiting the shot.
4. I’ve learned a lot during the editing process of the P-task. First of all I have learnt
how to use final cut pro, this software was used to edit our footage into one video
and make the video more fluid.
Sound was adjustable on the editing software as we managed to keep our video
constant at 18decibels. This was made easier due to the fact that our sound did not
fluctuate that much during our filming process.
Organising our group for the editing process was not that difficult as our group
attended after school to finish our video. Next time we have to be more organised
during the filming process as that would give us more time for editing.
As our group had quite a lot of footage, we were able to go through and select the
scene and sub-clips we thought best fitted together with any other scenes making
our video more interesting. We also edited the colour of our selected footage to
make the location seem more real as the camera gave off a slightly different colour
than reality.
I have also learnt how to use final cut pro to crop out unwanted scenery which is
easier than recording the scenes over again, luckily we did not need to crop any
scenes.
Editing helped us make our video more interesting by doing simple things such as
adding a fade to the beginning and ending of our video.
