1. Convention= the elements/things within a
media text that allow the audience to know
what type of text they are seeing/ hearing/
looking at.
2. Locked up GCSE music video
Good points: Editing skills, the split screens, the cut and fades, cross cutting,
different shot types, different colour screens some in black and white, the acting
and performance to show the hip hop genre of the song and the different scenes
has a link of being locked up in a prison life/ school being trapped.
Improvements: To lip sing more to the song and put good in timing and in tune. To
have more different and dress up in tracksuits, pumps and shirts rather then school
uniform. Also put more emotion to the end as the beginning was better.
How it fitted the genre of the music: Hip Hop/ R’n’B fitted it because you didn’t
see no gothic or punk things and it all had gangs and street life.
3. Billionaire GCSE music video
Good points: Different shot types, different scenes and environments like school,
Camden, Oxford. The song is a happy song and their emotion and facial expressions
is always happy and smiling and it goes with the video and song. They’re even
doing fun stuff not sad or depressing their even in Trocerdero showing a life of a
billionaire.
Improvements: Lip sing more in tine and better. Not to chew chewing gum while
their doing the video. Aspect ratio needed better lightning some parts of the video
was to dark. Also the two people started singing each other’s parts getting confused
and at the end it looked like they went out of footage and turned dull.
How it fitted the genre: Hip Hop there was a resolution to the video and was a neat
conclusion to it.
4. Written in the Stars GCSE music video
Good points: There was two different scenes at the same time when the boy was
rapping and the boy was walking. Good fades few editing skills.
Improvements: Miming should be better and more within the song. Also the scenes
and shot types they done should have been more professional and it had no
meaning to the song.
How it fitted the genre: R’n’b the music video had no conclusion or resolution to the
song itself.
5. I’m at 16 at war GCSE music video
Good points: It had good facial expressions and emotions shown miming to the
video. Got good shots with the girl crying it makes lot’s of meaning and emotion to
the video. Got good at the beginning where she looked like she was actually singing
along to the song. The camera movement was smooth and good tracking.
Improvements: Got boring with the repetition should have different shots of
different places. Should got more girls or boys to act in it so there would be more
scenes.
How it fitted to the genre: R’n’b went with the genre and her facial expression and
her emotions to the song.
